Pope Francis again cancels event, citing illness

VATICAN CITY (AP) - Pope Francis has canceled a planned visit to one of Rome's main hospitals - the latest in a string of ailments that have raised questions about the 77-year-old pontiff's health.

Francis had been due to visit the Gemelli hospital and celebrate a Mass there Friday afternoon. But nearly an hour after he was due to arrive, the Vatican issued a statement saying he was cancelling the trip due to an "unexpected indisposition."

The pontiff has only one full lung. Earlier this month, he skipped two days of audiences due to a stomach bug, then decided not to walk a mile-long procession last week to rest up for a trip to southern Italy.

Hope he gets well soon. He's one of the few bright lights in this nutty world.

Hopefully these illnesses are not the result of his going after the Italian mafia.
Remember what happened to John Paul I when he went after the crooked bankers.

No, the atheists don't need this guy... for anything. Sorry to sink your holy father boat, but it doesn't float anyway.

I don't need him at all. I do, however, respect the fact that while he cannot right all wrongs committed under the name of the Catholic church--and face it, there are many--he at least has made an attempt to change some of the things that make us consider the number of hypocrites who feel molesting/abusing/raping children are OK and that surrounding oneself with luxurious homes and cars are acceptable. Unfortunately, he can't do anything about the number of lives taken say, during the Spanish Inquisition, the native peoples in Latin America who were slaughtered, etc. Oh, and the way Irish girls/women were put into horrible workhouses if they became pregnant just last century because their families would not allow them back home due to the stigma attached to their "sin." All the property owned by the church including artwork, gold, jewels, real estate, etc...really? Why not sell some of that and distribute to the poor? Especially those that are poor due to not using birth control.

I will pray for him. He is by far the best Pope we have had in a long time.

Oh no.... the far left AOL and AP have their leftist panties all a twist because the Pope has shown to be the HUMAN REPRESENTATIVE OF GOD ON EARTH.. and has an illness.... what part of the word "HUMAN" do the loons on the left fail to understand?

Well what kind of an ignorant moron are you? The leftist and AOL have nothing to do with it. If you are intelligent enough, which I highly doubt, to have read the article you would see that the Pope only has one lung. Also if you knew anything about the rigorous schedule of the Pope you would realize it is grueling for anyone of his age range.

So why not just come right out and say that he's the MALE representative of your god on earth, because we all certainly know that a FEMALE would never be up to the job. ::spits::

Maybe it's time for the Catholics to have a Pope who doesn't have one foot in the grave, from the git-go !

After the very long papalcy of John Paul II, the church's geneal concensus was to chose an older cardinal to be pope.

Oddly enough, one would think that they would select the best person qualified.
