Waterspout spotted in Mobile Bay

A large waterspout was spotted in Mobile Bay, Alabama, on Thursday, June 26. Viewers could see the funnel cloud from the Dauphin Island Parkway around 4.30 p.m.

Waterspouts, while often mistakenly believed to be tornadoes over water, are actually much less dangerous and relatively common occurrences along the Gulf Coast. However, a special marine warning was instated until 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, according to AL.com.
