Judge strikes down Indiana ban on gay marriage

By CHARLES WILSON

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- A federal judge has struck down Indiana's ban on gay marriage, calling it unconstitutional.

U.S. District Judge Richard Young ruled Wednesday that the state's ban violates the U.S. Constitution's equal-protection clause in a mixed ruling involving lawsuits from several gay couples.

It wasn't immediately clear whether the ruling means same-sex marriages can begin in the state.

The Indiana attorney general's office says it will appeal.

Federal courts across the country have struck down gay marriage bans recently, but many of those rulings are on hold pending appeal. Attorneys on both sides of the issue expect the matter to eventually land before the U.S. Supreme Court.

It also wasn't immediately clear what impact Wednesday's ruling might have on a faltering movement to add a gay marriage ban into the Indiana Constitution.

I bought and extension cord the other day brought it home and went to use it. I plugged the male end into the female wall outlet, then I went to plug the appliance in at the other end and it was another male instead of the female end that was supposed to be at that end. I the realized that two male ends don’t work together and the extension cord was defective.

Same sex couples may be more common, but it will never ever be natural.
I can’t see the need to announce what your preference is unless you are looking for public approval in order to relieve your own guilt.

so far we have had two delusional posts from righties. Considering the fact that most conservatives live in nine out of ten poorest states, your notion that it is conservatives who pay the most tax is laughable. Not to mention, the ones who are ******* on the government teet, receiving far more than they pay in are, drum roll please, republican states.

Let people be people. If you want privacy in your homes, then why is everyone so interested in what everyone else does in their bedrooms? Leave the homosexuals alone. I am not gay nor bi-sexual, but I do support the right for EVERY human being to be treated as equal.

All the RED STATES, THE GOOD STATES, are getting ruined by pot and gay marriage. We've got to get this country back on the RIGHT TRACK with a conservative Republican President and all conservatives in cities, states, government. Then we will be moral, prosperous, and strong.

Funny, I haven't seen one truly "moral" candidate in the past twenty years that the cons have tried to shove down our throats.

Twenty years? More like 100, and on both sides of the aisle. They're all the same, the only difference is which lies they tell to get you to vote for them.

Oh, please expand on how the "good" states are getting ruined. Because I sure can't see how anyone or anything has been harmed.

Congratulations Indiana for honoring Constitutionally-guaranteed equal rights! Utah is another state whose same-sex marriage ban was recently struck down, also. One by one these unconstitutional state laws are being struck down and frankly, it's happening far faster than I thought it would - which is a GOOD thing! Marriage equality will be nationwide by the end of 2015, and these United States will have officially moved into the 21st century in this regard.
