Shacknews editor-in-chief Steven Wong recently posted an op-ed confessing to his being a Steam addict, and if you're a PC gamer you'll be able to relate to his predicament!

Steven starts off by discussing his first step of admitting a problem, then understanding more about the problem, before trying his hand at recovery. What's the biggest problem?

The other day, I opened up my Steam library and spotted a game that I didn't recognize. I had no idea what it was, when I bought it, or why I had it installed. Then I spotted a few other games that I didn't recognize. That's when I realized that I had a problem.

His Steam addiction may be a little tongue-in-cheek, but we all know the feeling about spending just a little too much money on our game libraries. It also doesn't help when events like the Steam Summer Sale come up with greater frequency!

So what's a gamer to do? Steven outlines a few common sense ways to avoid falling into that trap, including sticking close to your own user wishlist, or waiting to pick up games until they are at an extremely low price.

I've also found that having vast library is having a subconscious effect on me. Having a huge variety of games at my disposal means that I can put off picking up additional ones until they reach an irresistibly low price.
