Alaska tsunami warning downgraded to advisory

Energy map for tsunami warning after Alaska earthquake

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Authorities have downgraded the tsunami warning that was issued for parts of Alaska's Aleutian Islands after a magnitude-8.0 earthquake.

Monday's quake generated small tsunamis, with waves of less than 7 inches, prompting the National Tsunami Warning Center to downgrade the warning to an advisory.

Small waves are still expected along parts of the Aleutian Islands stretching from Unimak Pass to Attu, and officials advised people to stay off the beaches.

The earthquake recorded at 12:53 p.m. Alaska Daylight Time was centered about 13 miles southeast of Little Sitkin Island or 25 miles north Amchitka Island, an area prone to earthquakes located about 1,300 miles southwest of Anchorage.

There were several strong aftershocks, but no immediate reports of damage.

The largest city near the epicenter is Adak, which has about 300 residents.

Changed the way my city, Kodiak, looks probably forever. I wasn't there, thank God, when it happened. And I never returned, but it was where I went to high school so I have a soft spot for the place. A terrible, terrible time for all.

How many people are going to blame this quake on global warming? Other earthquakes and volcanic eruptions have been blamed on global warming although they have absolutely nothing to do with weather or climates.

i mean why are we waiting for washington dc's approval-

it's a territory> not a state -

they have no say in the states-look at the very first laws of the power and a state -thats the precedence to the case-like the saint valentines day mass- fbi could not investigate state murders -their gov and congress has even less power in the state

why not use profit to drive companies to help the planet-why not make a profit as well to pay the staff-would anyone mind people making money if a bi-product is helping the planet

why couldn't you build a whole business based on the enviroment funny thing i find is why is organic or normally raised meat and veg more expensive - your not using the chemicals -i mean do they even use crop rotations
latin america crops used to go out in cones and split into 3 concentric circles - they would crop at different ages for potency - inner circle was harvested first(seconds) middle next (hours)ect -fallow fields would look like a clock face moving from above

i have question about the redistribution of the planets weight if the ice cap melts- with water covering more of the globe would that affect it's spin - i mean we are on an axis would extra weight on one side make that spin faster because of momentum -
its not a question of global warming or hows fault isn't just a question of fixing it-laying blame doesn't help-

amazing so many scientist what a company couldn't fiqure out a way to profit off fixing it-
1)extract e xs salt with purifiers sell to winn dixie-

2)rice can soak up water like little water balloons and then bale them and transport to ice cap-if you own the rice fields you can sell the rice to publix's attach to ice cap which helps redistribution of weight and super cool -

3)use 6 old satellites like buoys over the ozone attach filters like sails on boats to filter harmful rays -use the material to produce sunglasses-satellites don't even have to transmit-

grow crops in haiti and harvest to sell on commodities exchange
