Jeremy Meeks, a 30-year-old convicted felon, was arrested Wednesday in an illegal weapons sweep in Stockton, California. His mug shot exploded on social media after the Stockton Police Department followed protocol and uploaded the photo to their Facebook account. As of Friday morning, the image had received nearly 60,000 likes, over 17,000 comments and about 7,000 shares.

In an odd twist, his viral mug shot has garnered him attention and fame, when it's usually the other way around; A celebrity's mug shot only goes viral because they are already famous. In honor of Meeks' sexy shakeup of the conventional routes to fame, we've put together a gallery of celebrity mug shots, past and present. Some you probably never knew were arrested -- like Tim Allen, who spent 2 years in prison for trafficking 1.4lbs of cocaine and Jane Fonda, who was arrested in 1970 for allegedly trying to smuggle narcotics through the Cleveland airport.
