'Handsome' mug shot of felon Jeremy Meeks goes viral

Jeremy Meeks, a 30-year-old convicted felon, was arrested Wednesday in an illegal weapons sweep in Stockton, California. His mug shot exploded on social media after the Stockton Police Department followed protocol and uploaded the photo to their Facebook account. As of Friday morning, the image had received nearly 60,000 likes, over 17,000 comments and about 7,000 shares.

In an odd twist, his viral mug shot has garnered him attention and fame, when it's usually the other way around; A celebrity's mug shot only goes viral because they are already famous. In honor of Meeks' sexy shakeup of the conventional routes to fame, we've put together a gallery of celebrity mug shots, past and present.
