Lifetime making movie on 'Saved By the Bell' cast

NEW YORK (AP) -- Lifetime is going back to the 1990s with a TV movie on the Saturday morning show "Saved By the Bell."

The network said Thursday that its film, "The Unauthorized Saved By the Bell Story," is being made in Vancouver and will premiere on Labor Day. It will examine the life of young unknown actors in Hollywood trying to maintain the clean image of their characters while growing up amid the temptations of show business.

The same person who cast the original series will handle that role for the TV movie.

Dylan Everett of "Degrassi: The Next Generation" is in line to play the ringleader role of Mark-Paul Gosselaar, and "Screech" is being handled by Sam Kindseth of "Shameless."

Okay please say it isn't so. Can this just stay where it was in the past. Do not alter the show by making a movie. Leave it alone. I think you are making a big MISTAKE.

Really? Can't people just leave well enough alone. For goodness sakes, just let those of us who loved shows like this one (and younger ones watching reruns now) enjoy the 'fun of it'. We aren't stupid, and realize what's on the screen isn't the same as what is behind the scenes. But isn't that the point of entertainment...to let us get away from reality for just a little while? Give it a rest.

You know, you could just not watch the movie. You never considered that?

we loved them so much that I don't think we want anybody playing their characters. But for the sake of it if I'm home and bored I'll watch it.....we'll maybe.
