Harrison Ford healing after surgery on broken leg

NEW YORK (AP) - Harrison Ford is recuperating after surgery to heal a broken leg suffered during production on "Star Wars: Episode VII."

The actor's publicist said Thursday that Ford is doing well after surgery and will soon begin rehab. Ford was injured a week ago during filming of the much-anticipated sequel at Pinewood Studios outside of London.

The accident involved a spacecraft door falling on the 71-year-old actor's leg. Ford's Han Solo pilots the Millennium Falcon, which is returning in "Episode VII."

Disney has said that shooting is continuing while Ford recuperates. He's expected to be sidelined up to two months.

Ford is one of several original "Star Wars" stars returning to the J.J. Abrams-directed sequel. He's joined by fellow alums Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Peter Mayhew.

I just turned seventy. I've had an earring for more years than I can imagine. No, not to make me look cool, I already am cool. Not to try to look young, I'm not young and I don't give a damn about being young again - Been There Done That! It's just a 'part' of me (no pun intended) so if you don't like it, GET OVER IT!

What's with the ear ring? Is wearing an ear ring when your old suppose to make you look cool or younger? Bring back the young Harrison Ford, before he started to wear ladies jewelry.

Surgery to "Heal" a broken bone? I hardly believe that slicing a leg to the bone is going to heal ANYTHING. Now, they may have put in a plate or two with a lot of screws, but that is NOT going to heal it, it will hold the broken pieces together until they heal, but the leg will NEVER be the same again. I speak from experience.

Harry Ford is amazing though, you'd think the surgeons could have removed that piece of shrapnel from his ear too.

Good grief! This article sure brought out the haters! How else would you expect the original cast to look forty years on? Here's a news flash: You ALL are going to age, get wrinkled, get brittle bones, lose some vision and hearing, and lose a few inches in height. Considering the alternative, it doesn't seem so bad. Are any of you leaving a legacy like Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill? You wish!

At his age, the only thing he should be piloting is a wheelchair.

News flash GM. People in their 70's are no longer old. Down here in the Villages we dance at the squares every night, take zumba classes, exercise classes, college coarses, belong to bike clubs, etc. I'm as tall as I was in high school, 5' 6 1/2. Don't you know any older healthy people?

How are the writers going to explain the way Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher look? Maybe it will be something like "they got caught in the explosion of the second Death Star!!"

All these years of making action movies with Spielberg and Lucas and doesn't get hurt, but as soon as he's on an Abram's set, he has an accident. Thanks, J.J.!
