FBI cracks Twitter slang, releases glossary

FBI Cracks Twitter Slang, Releases Glossary

Do you ever feel out of the loop while texting or tweeting? Well, don't worry, Mom and Dad! If you can't decipher the hundreds of acronyms sent your way, we have a new resource for you.

MuckRock, a site dedicated to sharing and analyzing government documents, submitted a Freedom of Information request to the FBI and landed on the holy grail of manuals - The FBI's official guide to Twitter slang, titled Twitter Shorthand.

According to Gawker, Twitter Shorthand is 83 pages long, listing nearly 3,000 words ... or acronyms 'n' such.

The Washington Post notes the glossary is somewhat outdated, though. The introduction of the manual states the resource can be used to understand shorthand on Myspace and in instant messages as well as on Twitter. You know, in case a criminal mastermind is scheming, in slang, via Myspace.

Do you think you can crack the code? A few of the more outrageous terms listed by the FBI include: TSTL, BFFLTDDUP and ITTET. We'll give you a few seconds ... OK, stumped? They mean "too stupid to live," "best friends for life til death do us part" and "in these tough economic times," respectively.

According to Daily Mail, the FBI kept things lighthearted, writing in the introduction, "The list has about 2,800 entries you should find useful in your work - or for keeping up with your children and/or grandchildren."

Whether you find the manual ridiculous or informative, some of the terms from the in-depth list will be sure to make you LOL.

Proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the FBI has seen better times, outlived their real purpose and should be listed alongside; TSA, IRS and the USPS as things we have out grown, don't you agree? To say that this dribble is absurd is to be polite.

So they are this tech savvy, but still could not keep up with the Boston Bombers -- despite 2 warnings from Russia -- or Benghazi -- despite 2 warnings from Amb. Stevens and another from Libya's PM ?

Another conservative suffering from incomplete information. You apparently failed to read that article about the "missing" e-mails.
The IT techs with the IRS were able to retrieve over 24,000 (that's 24 THOUSAND) of those e-mails because other employees had used computers which didn't crash to forward those e-mails.

The republicon House committee has those e-mails, plus a LOT more, and they still can't find one from Obama or someone in his administration directing the IRS to rake anyone over the coals.

Maybe it is because Issa and his lapdogs are looking for something which doesn't exist. They might was well try to find a unicorn.

They created this list for their own use in investigating stuff written to try to hide mischievous/illegal things going on or being planned.

The Posts here, if reflective of the American Populations Viewpoints, would seem to lean towards disfavor on this government project and, also point to a lot of disatisfaction with performance by the named agency on some very, very specific, preventable tragedies which have had imense impact upon U.S. world prestige, impressions of the U.S. capability and the deaths of American Citizens.
It would seem, the American Population (if this Blog is representative) is CLEARLY voicing discontent with performance and, thereby signaling AOL News where they would like to see the AOL NEWS' immense capability of bringing pressure to bear upon the named inadequencies.

(sorry... no spell check to easily use with this site)
