Pentagon Awards $725 Million in Defense Contracts

The Department of Defense awarded 11 defense contracts in its Friday evening announcement of contract awards. The total value of contracts awarded was $724.7 million.

The day's biggest award was split among ABM Industries , EMCOR Group , and two privately owned firms, which were awarded a $383.5 million contract modification funding increased capacity for operations and maintenance services in Defense Department medical treatment facilities. This contract will continue in force through July 11, 2015.

 Among the other publicly traded companies winning contracts:

  • Northrop Grumman was awarded a $61.3 million contract modification funding operations and maintenance services being provided to the U.S. Navy's Broad Area Maritime Surveillance -- Demonstrator Unmanned Aircraft System project through June 2015.
  • BP was awarded a contract for direct supply of up to $42.8 million worth of natural gas to U.S. Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and federal civilian agency locations in Texas and California through Sept. 30, 2017.
  • Lockheed Martin won a $35.7 million contract to supply the U.S. Army with an unspecified amount of Navy/Transportable Radar Search 59A Version (V)3 Array Electronics devices. Having an estimated completion date of July 12, 2017, this contract may be extended by the customer's exercise of options.
  • Alliant Techsystems won an $8 million contract to supply the U.S. Air Force with Rocket-Assisted Take-Off rocket motors and initiators by Jan. 6, 2017.
  • General Dynamics won two awards, a $23.5 million contract modification awarded to NASSCO for affordability design work on a new Navy Amphibious Assault ship to be designated LHA 8, in a deal that will run through May 2015; an $11.7 million contract modification awarded to Bath Iron Works for post-shakedown engineering and management work on the Littoral Combat Ship USS Coronado (LCS 4). This latter contract will run through December.
