Style Wrap: 2014 Governors Ball
I absolutely LOVED this dress. I felt more beautiful than I’ve felt in an outfit in a long time. And it must have shown because I had my picture taken SO many times. (I even ended up on the front page of HuffPost Style!)
Given that this was my first festival, I wasn’t sure if a maxi dress would be appropriate. But like I said, I felt so beautiful in it that I decided I didn’t care. The dress is technically backless, but I opted to wear a bra with it so that it skewed a little less formal. Someone stopped me and expressed that she had tried the dress on and decided not to buy it because it was backless. She was really impressed with my choice to “create” my own back. I styled it with a simple flower headband, a little bit of gold jewelry and a black fringe bag. For my shoes, I wore a pair of black ankle booties with gold hardware.
- After day 1, I decided I wanted to wear something a little more “traditional” in the way of music festivals but that was still fun and unique. I opted for a pair of black cut off shorts and a custom tank top I had recently been gifted from the folks over and Bow & Drape. I loooove this top. I think it’s so cute and fits my personality so well. Who doesn’t love food?! Sequins paired with a gold detailed headband and a little black lipstick and I was good to go!
I loved this outfit because it mixed so many different prints. The floral and Aztec print combined with the bold statement necklace made for so much visual interest. I was able to grunge it up and give it that “festival” look by adding in a little black lipstick.

The 3 day long festival was packed with interesting fashion choices and I thought why not share what I wore! I spent the Wednesday before shopping in NYC, looking for the perfect things to wear. Since I would be heading to Europe after the festival, I had to be very strategic about what I purchased because my suitcase could only fit so much. So I opted for a lot of pieces that I could wear with multiple outfits (although I did buy 2 pair of the same shorts. Why not?!)
Check out what I wore to the Governors Ball!
