Incredible Video Of Cop Pulling Man From Burning Car

It's a remarkable video you have to see to believe.

A car rams into a gas station pump and causes a fire in White Plains, New York. Then, an off-duty state police investigator, who happened to be at the right place at the right time, rescues the man in the burning car.

ABC reports: "The man at the pump, New York police senior investigator John Vescio."
"Next thing I knew the pump was coming down on top of me." (Via

Reports say the elderly driver of the car who crashed into the pump on June 3 was having a diabetic episode.

Once the elderly man was out of harm's way, Vescio had to warn people to move away from the scene because the officer had ammunition in his car. Thankfully, The Journal News reports none of it exploded from the heat.

NBC reports there were several injuries from the fire.

"Four cars were damaged, six people were hurt in this, but their injuries were not considered life threatening. ... Thank goodness for that off-duty officer."

And while Vescio is being hailed a hero, he joked with The Journal News he's still getting treated with no respect by his coworkers.

For those of you who are so intellectually superior that the behavior of this Sr Invstigator was an exception to the rule because in the security of your homes, offices ,classrooms you of course are the "master" of your domain. Police Officers work in a dynamic environment that is forever changing. They as a rule are all very well trained. When confronted with a decision they react using that training with the God Given instincts they have. They as well as firefighters and the military dont have the lavish environments to weigh danger. They just react. So that being said the brave souls that place themselves everyday into the crisis faced by other people are special. Remember, on 9-11-01 they were the ones running up the stairs because thats what they do. First Class Job Senior.

Thank God there are people like you out there that know what cops are subjected to and how they liv ein danger 24/7. Even when they are off duty they are still expected to act when something happens and they have thier lives and families lifes threatened all the time. I dont think they react tho....they act from the training thye have received. This man could have walked away to safety or moved his car out of the way but he didnt he put his life on the line. I know many male and female police officers and NOT ONE of them have ever dissappointed. They always put their lives on the line for the ungrateful public.

People wonder why we pay them a decent wage and a pension.

I do not think ,most policemen and firemen get enough pay for what they do. When you compare their salaries to the guys on the football field, baseball filed, etcv. they make peanuts for all of the dangerous work they do every day.

It seems that the cop haters...liberals for the most part are remaining silent for this story. They normally stay to themselves for any story and I am sure there would be a lot more if the media published them. They prefer the stories about the minority of law enforcement officers who stray from the path and break the law. Well done to the State Police Investigator John Vescio for his brave selfless act. I am sure he will be recognized by the NY State Police and decorated for his actions.

That is complete B.S. I am a liberal and I love and appreciate police officers. FYI plenty of police officers and firefighters ARE liberals. I know because I was one before I retired. Stop stereotyping and using articles that have nothing to do with politics to spout off.
