Daring Pig Makes Escape, Headlines With Death-Defying Jump

Out of the frying pan and, well ... out of the frying pan: A daring pig dives for freedom off the top of a moving truck on the way to the slaughter house.

In a video that's making the rounds on social media, a hog makes a harrowing leap of faith and after a hard impact, gets up and walks away.

The Independent reports there's no word yet on exactly where the great escape takes place, but they hazard a guess at South America, and the voices in the video seem to be speaking a romance language.

A bit of digging found that what might be the original video was uploaded more than a year ago by YouTube user pero931, who wrote in the description that it was captured on Cuba's Carretera Central.

The video was re-uploaded a couple times this past week, before it was posted on LiveLeak and then picked up by The Daily Mail on Thursday.

The plucky pig's bravery has earned him (or her) quite a few fans.

The Fox and Friends anchors enjoyed it saying "This pig leaping out of a moving truck in South America presumably trying to avoid becoming bacon. I hope he's okay!"

Most YouTube commenters were similarly supportive, with messages of, "Run, piggy run!!!" and "Freedom!"

Strangely enough, this isn't the first time a flying pig has made the news this week.

Metro reports a pig in China made headlines after a similarly daring escape, leaping from the top of a truck before being adopted by a local police department.

While the fate of the latest porker is unclear, to quote Babe, "That'll do pig, that'll do."
