Teen Gets Bitten By Shark... Doesn't Even Realize It!

GALVESTON, TX -- You never know what might get you in the ocean. In the case of one Texas teen, you might not know you've been bit by a shark until you get out of the water!

That's right: 14-year-old Mikaela Medina was the only one in her family to hop into the ocean on Galveston Island and waist deep in the water, she says she felt something bump her back. "I was like, `this could be a shark,'" she said.

Though she wasn't in pain, Mikaela checked in with her mom, who was startled by what she saw: bite marks.

"We know about sharks, but you never thought that something like this could happen to your own daughter, so I was kind of in denial at the beginning," Mikaela's mom, Maria Amezaga, explained.

But maybe this shark was just being playful. Mikaela was treated on-the-spot by a doctor and didn't need anything further treatment -- not even stitches! She knows how lucky she is.

"It's really crazy," she said. "I didn't think that could ever happen, and it could have been a lot worse."

No one says a shark bites without recognition oujoou. They bite FOR recognition. People survive a Great White attack because it is a test bite. They want seals and in cloudy water the only way to find out is to bite.

It's kind of cool in a way. To have a shark bite that is basically a nip. What a story to tell.

Galveston beach water is the Gulf Of Mexico not the ocean.

Seriously?! The water hitting the Galveston beach is Atlantic ocean water, dimwit. Try educating yourself.

that is a very unusual shark bite, likely a Bull shark given the area, maybe it was already actively open mouth about to eat other pray and ran into her...

A Bull shark wouldn't nip and run. Besides the Great White and the Tiger shark, Bull sharks are the most agressive sharks in the Ocean!

Whenever a shark bites a human it's a mistake. They either think we are something else or they dont know what we are at all. Usually it's one bite and they spit us out. They don't like the we taste. Of course, that one bite can be devastating
