Eric Cantor announces he'll resign as majority leader on July 31

Pelosi on Cantor Loss: 'Dynamic Has Changed'

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Virginia Republican Rep. Eric Cantor says he will step down as House majority leader on July 31. He plans to stay in Congress but not seek re-election.

Cantor announced his decision at a news conference Wednesday.

The Virginia Republican revealed his decision a day after his astonishing upset in a primary election by economics professor David Brat.

Cantor has been one of the most conservative GOP congressional leaders. Brat was scarcely known and far outspent by Cantor but had the support of tea party groups, who viewed Cantor as too willing to compromise.

Cantor had been widely seen as the likely eventual successor to House Speaker John Boehner.

Other lawmakers are already maneuvering to try succeeding Cantor as majority leader.

What happened to Cantor should stand as an example of what happens when politicians "DO NOTHING".

Now we need to vote out a couple hundred more.

Cantor was pro amnesty and pro spending. The people are tired of spending and know adding all the illegals will just mean more people on the unemployment roles. Both sides need to sit up and take notice we are tired of being lied to, we are tired of massive spending, we are tired of a government for themselves not for the people. Many more upsets will be on the way unless they change and show the change not just words.

AP article serves as good example of media bias. Saying that Cantor is one of the "most conservative GOP congressioanl leaders" is opinion, not fact. Most of us conservatives don't consider Cantor that conservative at all. This is the proble, the media!!!!! Mislead! Mislead! Mislead!

Wait, wait.... If he was defeated in the primary, just how can he even think about running for re-election?
