'Pawn Stars': Man's original Keith Haring pieces are worth a small fortune

'Pawn Stars': Man Receives Small Fortune For Original Keith Haring Artwork

On "Pawn Stars," a man brought in two Keith Haring art pieces which ended up being worth a small fortune.

APPRAISER: "I could see them in a gallery in New York in the $40-000-$50,000 range.
MAN: "Each?"
APPRAISER: "Each."
MAN: "Yes."

Keith Haring was an American artist and social activist who was best known for his graffiti-inspired drawings.

The appraiser said Haring's artwork fell into the same category as Andy Warhol, and therefore, they're worth a pretty penny. Rick called the drawings very valuable pieces of art history from one of the world's first fine art cartoonists.

You can visit Pop-Shop to check out tons of Keith Haring memorabilia, including clothing, calendars, accessories and more.

I guess I just don't understand art. Or maybe I understand it perfectly and those people are just nuts. Yeah, I'll go with that last one there.....

Despite the dad's real estate business going south, and instead of feeling sorry for themselves, they worked hard and started the pawn business on their own, without a handout from the government! And now they have a successful, highly rated family TV show. If you don't like the family than turn the channel. But stop with the hateful comments. No one forces sellers into selling and if Harrison low balls an item, the seller HAS THE RIGHT TO WALK AWAY from the deal. Honestly people. Get a life.

To all you Pawn Star haters: Some items are brought in that are worthless and others are valuable. Some people have no intention of selling. They just want a free appraisal. When a valuable item turns up and is appraised, the owner can always refuse and take it to auction. However, many will not pay the listing fees, the fees to the auction house, and any other fees that might be incurred. So, do not hate the men of the show. If you have ever been to a pawn shop, then you know how it works. Some of the people who come to the store know that they do not have anything of value. Also, it is a reality tv show. You get what you expect--drama.

Actually, I am a little surprised at some of the negative comments. I do personally like the show because it does have some educational value to it. These negative comments must be from people who live their lives through programs like the Housewifes of OC.

Pawn Stars is entertaining, educational and there is an obvious strong bond and/or camaraderie between that family and the other small businesses that support each other.

Actually, he paid $48k for the pair. You people must be thinking of the Detroit Pawn Star show with those low ball figures.
