Stocks for Young Investors
In this edition of The Motley Fool's "Ask a Fool" series, Motley Fool analysts Jason Moser and Brendan Mathews take a question from a reader, who asks: "What are some good stocks for a young investor with a long time horizon? I currently own blue-chip stocks. Are there slightly riskier options that I could buy and hold for 40 years?"
Brendan likes CarMax because he sees a long runway for growth in the used-car market. He also thinks WisdomTree Investments is quite attractive at today's prices, given the company's huge market opportunity. Jason considers management important for a long-term holding, which is one of the reasons he likes Chipotle Mexican Grill as a long-term grower. He also believes that Invensense's technology could lead large profits over time. Brendan also likes Markel , the specialty insurer, because of its outstanding leadership.
