Landing plane almost takes out sunbather

Landing Plane Almost Takes Out Sunbather

Video of a plane nearly taking out a beachgoer is going viral - here it is from the BBC.

Wow. You obviously heard German there - seems the 52-year-old pilot was flying along the coast of Germany when he nearly landed on a sunbather on a northern island.

The Daily Mail quotes him, "...it wasn't one of my greatest achievements in the cockpit." The pilot says he expects to face a fine but hopes he won't lose his license.

And The Daily Star reports the vacationer who took the footage told the outlet they'd seen other planes land that day and could tell instantly this plane was coming in too low.

Well, luckily the sunbather seemed OK, as did the pilot and plane. The Sydney Morning Herald reports the pilot flew home the same evening.

No one has yet been able to locate or speak to the sunbather - according to multiple outlets, he stood up and simply walked off after the near-miss. Hopefully, he at least got a good tan.

Well... let's see .... lying down in the middle of an airport glide path AND overweight ... yet another Darwin 'I told you so !!!' moment. And his 'evasive maneuver' is to cover his head at the last minute ?!?! I guess that's the best way to protect yourself when an airplane smashes into you @ 100+ MPH ... ~:O

planes very rarely have engine failure, and most often it is caused by fuel starvation. A plane that size normally normally comes in power off on final anyway.

What does overweight have to do with this story, idiot.? The guy was stupid to lie at the end of the runway. (Stupidity is something the two of you have in common.)

FROM the article:
" No one has yet been able to locate or speak to the sunbather ..............he stood up and simply walked off .........."

Ummm......NO.

He walked off back to his hotel room so he could change his "swim trunks"....

(If you get my "drift".......LOL !!)

This is nothing. Big planes (big passenger jets) fly right over the beach at St. Maartens, too, and sometimes the sunbathers get blown across the beach when a plane comes in to land

Yea, guess he was a little low. You can see one of the ground posts get ripped up right at 0:20 mark on right side of plane. Still, don't think I'd be laying in flight path....

Laying right in the path of a landing strip, not exactly the brightest move. There was plenty of other beach area for him to lay.

In St. Maartens big passenger jets come in that low over the beach, with sunbathers and cars (there is a road between beach and landing path) getting blown over. There is a video on youtube and it's frightening to watch.

Seen it. You're right. And there are idiots who go there just for that particular experience.
