'Mono mono' twin babies to head home soon

A rare set of Ohio twins that held hands right after being born last month are still in the hospital, but they may soon be on their way home.

Fox News says,"It looks like they will be on track to head home for Father's Day. Jenna and Jillian are their names, and they were born prematurely with a rare condition called 'mono mono.'"

"The couple was told they were having mono mono twins, meaning the babies shared the same amniotic sac and placenta. The odds of this type of pregnancy [are] one in 10,000 births."

Doctors at the Akron hospital say the nearly 1-month-old twin girls are doing well. WEWS reports both of them weigh about 5 pounds and have been able to drink full bottles.

The girls' mother sat down for an interview with WJW-TV just days after she gave birth to the rare babies, explaining her anxiety.

"I had a lot of anxiety at the beginning, especially, when I found out they were mono mono twins - just whether or not they were going to survive."

The story of their births gained so much attention, the girls' mother told WEWS it even made it on the news in Australia.

Once the twins are out of the hospital, they'll be able to spend time with their older brother at home.
