California High School Seniors Set Graduation Stage On Fire

California High School Seniors Set Graduation Stage On Fire

Two Roseville, Calif., teenagers allegedly attempted to end their senior year with a bang. Well, a blaze ...

Sacramento Bee reports setting the stage set up for their impending high school graduation on fire Thursday morning, and leaving a giant burn mark on Roseville High School's football field.

School officials said the incident goes way beyond a senior prank, and fellow students told local media they were confused by the whole thing.

"Seniors Jordan Loya and Joe Evans were escorted off campus in handcuffs..."
KTXL quotes a student: SAMANTHA CHEEK (STUDENT): "We thought it might be a rival school, or, like, underclassman. It was really, like, crazy to find out it was actually our own class."

"If this was a senior prank, then there's no sense in doing it. Especially if they had no real reason."
KOVR reports "We're told a number of local businesses stepped forward to donate time and materials to keep the ceremony on track."

KXTV reports officials are still investigating the incident – but are confident the fire was deliberately set.

The two suspects face allegations of arson, vandalism, and conspiracy – having caused a reported $100,000 in damage. The field's turf was relatively new. (via: YouTube )

The students – one in juvenile custody, the other in county jail – will still receive their diplomas. Graduation ceremonies are expected to go on Friday as planned.

Agree - they should not get their high school diplomas until the total cost of damages has been paid to the school district. Maybe 2024 ?

I've heard of high schools withholding diplomas because of overdue library books. Should be able to withhold diploma until they have paid the $100,000 in damages.

My husband's high school withheld his diploma because they said he had a class book. He didn't have the book and refused to pay for the book. He got to walk and received his diploma case with no diploma in it. And this was way back in 1990....

I agree, they can work off the debt, working for the city as day laborers .
We are hearing more of these costly crimes throughout the nation .Of course the media calls it pranks .
Set an example of these clowns, and students will start thinking twice .

Also, when they finish paying off the debt and go to college they will be more likely to take their education seriously and less likely to not become involved in any college "pranks".

Well, well, another case of our students who think these things are just funny. I hope they follow through with whatever punishment they have to face. Been watching too much TV with the dumb, dumber, and dumbest again to think this would be funny.

I'll AGREE with you here, Terry, since these 2 no-GOOD-niks were charged with arson, vandalism, and conspiracy, I hope they get WHATEVER is deservant of them. If I were the sheriff of this area, I'd be STERN on the punishment phase.

Nice for the businesses that stepped forward to help out so the "good" students could have their ceremony despite these complete idiots.

I could be wrong, but I hundred thousand dollars with that little bit of grass. I think somebody bumping the insurance bill. And besides, so much of California is on fire right now who would have known the difference. Look at the bright side, no one was hurt. There was no frat party that destroyed a home and no girls were attacked.
