'Vows': Rebecca and Lee

Rebecca met Lee by making an appointment.

It was January, 2008. She said she had not seen a dentist in some time, and his office in Manhattan was across the street from the cosmetics packaging company where she worked at the time. It turned out she had several cavities and needed a root canal.

"I was there for about five months," she said. "Over that time we just became friendly, and I liked him, and I kind of guessed that he liked me."

At each appointment, Lee said, "we just talked about our families, our friends and just kind of clicked."

But Rebecca did not know if Lee was married or seeing someone, so in April of that year she took a chance: "I asked his receptionist if he was single." She said he was, and asked, " 'Isn't he so cute?' She might have been playing a little bit of a matchmaker."

After that, Rebecca took another chance. She had Lee's cellphone number because he had called to see how she was after the root canal.

"I texted him and invited him to come to a happy hour that my office was having," she said. "I had already referred a bunch of co-workers to him as patients, and he would know other people there."

After the happy hour, at a bar on Bleecker Street, they went to another bar and talked until late in the night.

They began going out after that, and the rest is history.
