Missouri 5th grader gets surprise of a lifetime

Fifth-Grade Girl Reunited With Her Staff Sergeant Father

Staff Sergeant Tom Stebbins is part of the Missouri National Guard and has been away from his wife and four daughters for the past year while he was over in Afghanistan.

His youngest daughter, Claire, wasn't expecting to see him until Friday, though KTVI reports that her father returned to the States on leave Tuesday.

Needless to see, young Claire, who is in 5th grade, couldn't believe her eyes when her father appeared at an elementary school assembly Wednesday.

"I just couldn't believe my eyes! I jumped off the stage and ran into his arms! I didn't know what to do!" she told KTVI.

According to HLN, Tom and Claire have big plans ahead:

"He says he can't wait to get back to their weekly Saturday breakfasts together. I bet so."

The entire Stebbins family plans to take a big vacation in the coming weeks to celebrate their dad finally coming home.

Storeis like this are great . What I can't understand in this country, is how we let things like this most recent VA Hospital thing happen to the men and women that go to war for us . How in this nation with all our money ,all our tech and all the smart people do we allow any soldier to die in our care, let alone the 44 that apparently were lost at VA hospitals around the country . It's a sin and a crime . These men and women deserve the best and they're getting the run around .

I would love to go back to the principles of our forefathers but Obama is standing firmly in the way. When he goes and if we do not get the same kind (like Hillary Clinton) in again, we may start to pull ourselves up again. Right now we are the disgust and ridicule of the world. We have recovered many times before when the electorate disgust reached a point of no return and we can do so again. This decline of decency and morals began with Woodstock (the Clinton days) and it is time to stop. When you go to vote in November and 2016 run this litany of mistakes and scandals through your mind before voting; Fast and Furious (dead American military man), Benghazi (4 dead Americans), Solyndra (millions lost), NSA (illegal monitoring of American and International calls without warrants), IRS (blocking action on conservative groups and employees owing millions in overdue taxes), The VA scandal 44 dead in just Phoenix and counting still going), etc. Please do not vote Democrat again.

Why are people so selfish and inconsiderate? Why think only of yourself and not others? So many such stories about "surprising" the loved ones as if it's a good thing.

Why "depriving" your loved ones the joy of expectation? Why "depriving" them of days of extra joy anticipating and planning your arrival? Why focus on you being the hero and "depriving" your loved ones the chance of being the hero and give you the welcome they want?

Next time, try to think more about them and less about yourself.

Is anyone else getting tired of these "Feel Good" propaganda stories, designed to make us feel good about sending our boys to far off places to kill innocent people and maybe come home in a bag or disabled for life? I know I am. Maybe, it's because I was one of those boys years ago. I am a service connected disabled Vietnam Vet.

Wake up people. We promote conflict so, we can use the weapons we have. Those weapons need to be replaced. Our friends in the Military Industrial Complex profit greatly from the sale of this overpriced hardware at the expense of the taxpayer. They then roll some of those profits back to our politicians in the form of campaign contributions. That way, our senators and congressmen can vote "YES" to the next war of choice.

Our country is in shambles and, the most important thing our Senators find to debate is, the name of "The Washing Redskins." This whole game is designed to keep us distracted from the real issues with triviality and we play fall for it.
