Fanged Cannibal Fish Washes Ashore, Alive

Here's something that's sure to ruin a romantic walk on the beach. A scary looking fish washed ashore in North Carolina last week, and it was still alive. Officials believe it's a long-snouted lancetfish - and if its razor sharp teeth weren't off-putting enough, it also has a reputation for cannibalism.

While very little is known about the biology of this species, Livescience reports that they're typically found in deep waters. Officials believe this one might have been sick, and that's how it ended up so close to the shore.

The frightful fish made its rounds on social media with many people swearing off a trip to the beach ... and we don't blame them.
