Man Shoots Himself In Head, Rubs Neosporin On Wound

An Alaska man decided to avoid the hospital for five days after accidentally shooting himself in the head. Instead, he put Neosporin on the wound.

Accidentally shot yourself in the head? Just rub some Neosporin on it! At least, that's what one Alaska man did.

KTUU reports an Anchor Point man accidentally shot himself in the head while handling his gun. Instead of immediately going to the hospital, the man just put Neosporin on the wound for five days.

Yes, Neosporin. According to the ointment's website, it's to be used for, "First aid to help prevent infection in minor: cuts, scrapes, burns," according to Neosporin. Gunshot wounds to the head? Not mentioned.

Alaska's Peninsula Clarion identifies the man as 43-year-old James Doppler and says he was "negligently" handling the gun.

After a few days he did eventually end up going to the hospital, but still...owww. His injury was determined to be serious, but not life-threatening.

The story was posted to KTUU's Facebook page and sarcastic commenters chimed in saying "If he woulda had some duct tape, he'd be golden" and "its okay~ he never used that part of his head anyways."
