Hold the pickles and add the pot. Police in Iowa are investigating a report of what might have been marijuana in a couple's McDonald's hamburger last month.

According to WJXT, the couple ordered the McDoubles from a drive-thru in Ottumwa, Iowa, on April 26, but upon biting into them, thought they tasted off. That's when they opened them up and found what appeared to be pot sprinkled into the cheese between the two patties.

The couple informed the manager, who informed police.

The Des Moines Register spoke with Police Lt. Jason Bell, and he confirmed the substance "appears to be consistent with marijuana."

Investigators will know more when test results come back, but they could be waiting up to two months for the lab's answer.

The Ottumwa Postidentified the woman as 23-year-old Brittany Songer, who was six weeks pregnant when she took a bite of the burger.

She told the Post, "Once I opened those burgers, you couldn't smell McDonald's anymore. You could only smell the illegal drugs that were on it."

Police did say one employee was found with some drug paraphernalia -- but didn't provide details.

The couple told local media they might sue if the burgers test positive for drugs.

As of Wednesday, the Iowa McDonalds in question remains open.
