Bill Clinton vouches for Hillary's health

WASHINGTON (AP) - Former President Bill Clinton said Wednesday his wife Hillary took six months to recover from a 2012 concussion, adding she is now "stronger than I am" as he dismissed GOP strategist Karl Rove's comments about her health.

"I got to give him credit, you know, that embodies that old saying that 'consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds,'" Bill Clinton said at a Washington conference. "First they said she faked her concussion. And now they say she's auditioning for a part on 'The Walking Dead.'"

The former secretary of state fell ill with a stomach bug in December 2012 after returning from a trip to Europe, leaving her severely dehydrated. While at home, she fainted and fell, suffering a concussion. The illness forced her to reschedule her testimony to Congress about the deadly attack months earlier in Benghazi, Libya.

The New York Post reported Tuesday that Rove suggested at a private conference near Los Angeles last week that Clinton suffered brain damage. Rove disputed that he was referring to any brain damage.

"I didn't say she had brain damage. I said she had a serious health episode," he said on Fox News.

Rove told Fox News, for which he is a commentator, that Clinton had a "serious health episode" that would be a legitimate issue for her in a potential bid for the Democratic presidential nomination "whether she likes it or not."

Clinton allies and the White House pushed back on Rove's comments, and Bill Clinton said he was "sort of dumbfounded" by the remarks.

"Look, she works out every week, she is strong, she's doing great. As far as I can tell, she's in better shape than I am," the former president said.

After Hillary Clinton's concussion, doctors discovered a blood clot in a vein that runs between the skull and the brain behind her right ear and she was admitted to New York-Presbyterian Hospital for treatment with blood thinners. She was released after a brief hospitalization.

Bill Clinton said it was serious and took her six months to recover.

The former president also defended his wife's response to the Sept. 11, 2012 Benghazi attack that killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens.

His comments came as the House pushes ahead with a special select committee to investigate the attacks, U.S. security at the diplomatic mission, the military's response and the Obama administration's explanation of what happened.

Hillary Clinton is certain to be asked to testify by the GOP-led panel.

"In my opinion, Hillary did what she should have done, she impaneled a very high-level review committee," Bill Clinton said.

He was referring to the Accountability Review Board investigation by former diplomat Thomas Pickering and retired Adm. Mike Mullen, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

"They looked into what was wrong, they gave 29 recommendations, she took them and started implementing them," Bill Clinton added.

House Speaker John Boehner has appointed seven Republicans to serve on the panel. Democrats are weighing whether to participate in an inquiry that many in the party have described as a political stunt, pointing to the multiple independent and bipartisan investigations that have already been conducted.

When anyone is allowed into the arena of Top-Class politics just because her husband cheated on her while she was the First Lady, what made anyone think we would get a Champion for All peoples rights. Serves us right, and now the chippy-chaser is trying to say that she's a great person while other people have noticed his face is showing not only his age but the nose of a person who drinks to excess. Sounds just like the family you would want in the White House. Yeah, the rest of us were thinking along the same lines too We threw them out once, lets not be dumb and start that circus again.

We do love our celebrities...And the Clintons are rock stars. Their accomplishments (or lack of) as public servants are completely secondary. So Bill, no more an expert than Rove, has pronounced Hillary to be fit for duty.
Whether you and I like it, WJC's transgressions have been totally forgotten and foregiven by the American public. And Ms. Clinton, had that upstart from Illinois not come on the scene when he did, was destined to be America's first major-party woman candidate for president.
Idealist voters, eager to cast off any doubts about America's evolution, were poised to make history when a much slicker (and a minority, to boot) candidate came along and stole Hillary's thunder. The new president basically gave Ms. Clinton the DNC consolation prize -- making her SoS.
So now, the idealists get to have their cake and eat it too. Not only was their woman able to stay in the limelight by becoming a cabinet member -- she was automatically given a second bite at the apple.

I met Bill once at a green energy event in NV. He looked so weak and his hands trembled when speaking. I consider AOL as a very Liberal internet service. Even so, the fact that they cannot win support on this web site gives me satisfaction.

Acually, I was shocked to see what a little man he really had become. By the way, Gore was also there. This guy is a self centered clown. Met Bush once at the WH group of 13, again green energy issues. Went around the room and ask our names. The rest of the meeting he addressed us by our first name's. Meant a lot to all of us.

No first " she " said that she was injured and could not testify or answer any questions. More time was needed for the attorney's to cover her big *ss. Too busy and hurt? Now we are to believe she was never injured. Perfect lies by the want to be.

"Democrats are weighing whether to participate in an inquiry that many in the party have described as a political stunt, pointing to the multiple independent and bipartisan investigations that have already been conducted."

that would be because there are multiple offenses that have been overdue to be investigated! Benghazi, IRS targeting by DOJ, Fast and Furious, need I go on?

The Clintons are both liars. As far as Hillary is concerned, At this point in time with hands in the air, what does hillary matter. She should have went to jail long ago for her illegal investment scheme that netted her a $100,000 profit on a &10,000 investment in a matter of a couple of weeks.

Could have went to jail? Starr and Fisk didn't look into that? Whitewater wasn't fully investigated? Who Hillary made her investment, who was President and had an SEC to look into it? It wasn't a Dem. Get a life. TWO independent investigators at the time, along with a following GOP President with his Justice Dept. had the power. Probably believe that Foster was killed also? Along with Obama being a Kenyan? What does Hillary matter? How about because she leads all GOPers as to 2016.
