High school senior scores prom date with NFL cheerleader

High School Senior Scores Prom Date With NFL Cheerleader

It seems like the typical high school movie plot – a cute football player goes to prom with the cheerleader. Well, this story was a little different. Here's KPRC:

"Crosby High School senior Mike Ramirez worked up the courage and used Twitter to ask out Caitlyn, a Texans cheerleader."
"Then came Saturday night, prom night, a night Mike will never forget."

Back in February, Ramirez sent Houston Texans cheerleader Caitlyn Beth a direct message via Twitter. It said: 'If I get 10,000 retweets will you go to prom with me? You will get asked in a cute way!' Beth replied 'Of course I will.'

More than 10,000 retweets later, the two were officially prom dates. Beth told KHOU what happened after the 10,000th retweet.

"The moment it hit 10,000 I got text messages galore saying 'You're going to prom, you're going to prom! Oh my gosh!"

So, of course, the next thing to decide was what to wear to the prom. Fortunately, it wasn't too hard for the duo - they picked their favorite team's colors.

"They told us they coordinated their outfits, battle red of course."

And Ramirez wasn't the only one who seemed to enjoy their date.

Beth tweeted, 'We're here!!!' upon arriving at Crosby High School's big night. Later that evening, she tweeted that she'd had a blast at the dance.

Ramirez definitely scored a touchdown in the date department. He joked he hopes there's a wedding in their future.

Awww, why be critical. This young man showed a lot of initiative and courage to ask such a beautiful woman to his prom. And, regardless of the critics that say she had a selfish motive, she did attend and I give her a lot of credit for it. Good for him and a big like for Caitlin.

Come ON, people. . . can't you just dump your negativity and smile about this story? Every guy -- and girl -- has a fantasy dream date, and Michael Ramirez took a step towards making his come true. He probably thought it was a very, very long shot that Caitlyn would even acknowledge his tweet. Some of you are tarnishing the beauty of the experience with your inability to view Caitlyn as a nice young woman and the fact that most prom-goers do NOT expect the end to be a "get lucky" night. As for this being "news"? It sure beats the continual front page rambling about corruption, politics, crime, and war we see day in and day out.

Celebrities are going to start saying no (some already have, like Kate Upton); and schools need to start saying no as well (like the school that suspended the kid for asking Miss America). The prom needs to remain what it is--an event for high schoolers not visiting celebrities who suck all the oxygen out of the room.

.... uh, you obviously were not there. If you don't think those kids were thrilled by the whole affair .... you really have no idea. The only ones ******* are those who allow 'envy' to consume their better judgement.

What a cute story! Good for him and so sweet of her to make his prom dreams come true. It just shows that if you go for what you want, even if it's as simple as asking someone on a date, it can happen.

So she used him for publicity.. nothing heartwarming here. What an insult to the girls in your school. Prom is for getting close to someone your own age, not for bragging rights. All I can say (in the most sarcastic tone).... Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Gooooood For youuuuu!!
