8 Year Old Throws Pitch At Minor League Baseball Game, Get's Huge Surprise

An 8-year-old girl was given the honor of throwing a ceremonial pitch at a minor league baseball game, but the identity of the catcher caught her off guard.

Isabella Elmore was excited to go out on the field during the seventh inning stretch of a Charlotte Knights home game. Her father, Phillip Elmore, a Gunner's Mate First Class in the U.S. Navy, even filmed a special message from Germany to congratulate his daughter.

But he did more than just record the message; he caught the ball. It was the first time they'd seen each other since October.

This isn't the only heartwarming story about a ceremonial pitch that's in the news. On Mother's Day, 101-year-old Kitty Cohen became the oldest Canadian ever to throw out a first pitch.
