Brave bulldogs meet a black bear

It seems this black bear was an uninvited guest on the New Hampshire farm of Youtube user Cue Foils. When the beast trespassed into the yard to take a taste of their bird feeder, the owner's two bulldogs broke through their enclosure to surround the bear in a pretty incredible scene. See how the standoff unfolds in the video above.

From the owners:
"Our Bulldogs actually broke through the railings on our farmer's porch to confront our guest! One might say this bear is the world's the most, mild-mannered Black Bear ever confronted."

This is not surprising. Although bears are far more powerful than dogs, they feel somewhat helpless when faced with a dog, and especially with multiple dogs, because the dogs are so much more agile and quick than they are. Even pudgy relatively slow dogs like these English Bulldogs can generally intimidate a bear and chase it away. However, it is not advisable that we humans try the same approach. Best to leave it to the experts, the dogs!

City people have no idea about the way animals act in the wild. Their minds are full of images of animals in cages and movie cartoons. Black bears, like most wild animals, will flee rather than fight. there is no ER treatment for either winner or loser in nature.
