Missing boy, 3, found wearing very 'unique blanket'

Family Dog Acts As Blanket And Saves Toddler's Life

A 3-year-old boy went missing in North Dakota Monday night, and after community members searched for almost seven hours, they finally found him with a unique blanket keeping him warm.

KMSP says "The Urness family called 911 after their son Carson disappeared from the family farm." KVLY notes "ATVs and horses showed up... and more footwalkers."

"I lost it I guess you could say."

Little Carson was playing on the family farm when his parents, Courtney and Brock Urness, lost track of him. Nearly 200 people showed up to help find him.

KMSP says they combed about 2,000 acres of land ... and then realized someone else was gone.

"The family realized their dog Cooper was also missing."

Courtney figured if they could find Cooper, they would also find Carson.

KVLY says the search continued for hours without any success.

"By 2 o'clock in the morning, the rain was coming down, and we were at a point we were going to send footwalkers home."

Finally, WDAZ says they found Carson safe - a mile away, with Cooper on top of him.

"I just didn't realize that he would actually be like laying on him and keeping him warm... protecting him."

Carson told his mom that he was scared, but Cooper kept him warm. Carson was reunited with his family, checked out by a doctor and released shortly after.

That's what dogs do. They are the most fantastic creatures in the world. They are loyal, loving, reliable and very trainable depiste their differences with humans who often confuse them by sending them the wrong signals. They are protective of their families and most especially the young children. If raised in a family environment, they develop a sense of belonging and as their ancestors the wolves, they naturally "babysit" the youngest ones in the pack when needed and will fight anyone away if they feel they may be a threat to the babies. Thanks be to God! Thanks be to dogs!!! :-))
will protect them with their lives.

Is there any greater love? I know for a fact there isn't. My pets give unconditional love without prejudice. They are truly gifts from God. There are no bad dogs, just bad owners and trainers. The fault is in the human, not the dog.

Your pets want your food and will wait patiently for it They want warmth and will hop on top of your being and stay there to keep warm They are not thinking of themselves most of the time They just aren't that smart :)

Wow, so you watch your kids 24 hrs a day 7 days a week? So you do not sleep? Do you take them into the shower with you? Do you take them in while you are having "alone time" with your husband/wife? Do you take them into the bathroom with you? REALLY?! Ok.....

I had a cat once, that after I had leg reconstruction surgery, that slept on the effected leg with me in the recliner. The only time she ate or used her box was when I was up on crutches. for therapy or showers & such. I went back to recliner and there she was again. I was blessed.

I remember some Moms putting bells on their kids coats so that they made noise as they moved around. Maybe today there is a small GPS tracker that can be attached to their coats and followed with a smart phone. Freedom for the kid and peace of mind for the parents. You can always fence-in a portion of the yard.
