Kerry to visit Mexico on Benghazi hearing day

By MATTHEW LEE
AP Diplomatic Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The State Department says Secretary of State John Kerry will be traveling to Mexico later this month, making him unavailable to testify before a congressional committee hearing on Benghazi that he has been subpoenaed to attend.

The department said Wednesday that Kerry will be in Mexico for two days, starting on May 21. That means he will miss the scheduled hearing that the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has set for the same day. Committee chairman Darrell Issa last week issued a subpoena for Kerry to appear.

Kerry said Tuesday he would comply with "whatever responsibilities" he has to Congress. It was not immediately clear if the committee had rescheduled the hearing or if other arrangements had been made for Kerry's appearance.

Aren't "conspiracy theories" just a hoot? Reading down through these posts is like a trip to psychotic Disneyland! The unfortunate events in Benghazi were no more the "fault" of the President and other American officials than was the storming of the U.S, Embassy in Iran. Simulatanity is not related to causality in any manner. The GOTP and its acolytes need to get over it-- unless they are willing to accept the blame for all the nasty sh!t that occured during Republican administrations.

If you have an IQ just above room temperature, you should be just smart enough to figure out what the republicans are doing here.

Kerry is merely a stooge of a Chicago type Administration.

The ONLY thing he's ever been successful at is marrying very wealthy women.

He cannot answer the questions honestly just as Sibelius can't without involving the Whitehouse and mr. obama. ( no caps intended)

Transparent Administration. One of MANY obama lies!

The real reason Kerry is hiding is because he has already told the administration that he is not going to lie for them. This is going to affect the namesake of the ones involved I mean there children there children's children so on and so on for centuries. There will be books and movies showing what really happened and memorials erected for these hero's that were killed and injured fighting and waiting for help. This will be similar to the Alamo. 9 against up to 150 it has been reported and way out gunned with plenty of time for us to respond and help them in numerous ways.

If I were one of the dopes from this administration I'd hide out, too. We deserve better than this.

You may not be one of the dopes in this administration, but, you're still a dope.

When are the republicans going to give up on Benghazi? What about the Bush administration lying about WMDs in Iraq? Thousands of American lives lost and trillions of dollars wasted because of intentional lies. That seems far worse to be than what happened in Benghazi. Taking on the job of being ambassador to a country like Libya is a dangerous job. Defending the ambassador and other embassy people in a country like Libya is a very difficult task and the people who served there knew that. Neither Obama nor Hillary Clinton had anything to do with what happened there. Yet, the republicans want to fire up their right wing loony base and so they keep on beating a dead horse.

There is a scene in Platoon where William Defoes's character is being shoot and killed by the enemies chasing him from the jungle in front of his platoon. Tom Beringers's character left him to die rather than face a court marshal. That is what I think of when Benghazi is mentioned, this administration left our beloved Americans to die rather than admit their failures. One day they will face a greater judgement much greater than a committee hearing and it will humble them one way or another. We are but a mist going through this world and this world will not last forever. God help them because they need a lot of prayer.

Hmmm...if the average American tried to ditch a subpoena...

Everything this administration does is prove they have EVERYTHING to hide. Every one of their butts should be out of office and/or in jail!
