Man reunites with woman he found abandoned as newborn

A man who found a newborn baby abandoned in the woods in Indiana finally got to reunite with her nearly 60 years after he first found her. Dave Hickman sat down with CBS.

In 1955, Dave was just 14 years old. He heard a strange cooing noise in the woods, "so I started walking up the fence, I got on top of the fence, I looked down, and there was a little baby. She was soaking wet. Her lips were blue. She was wrapped in a towel."

The baby, then named Roseann, was adopted a short time later. Hickman said goodbye to her and then spent years looking for her. So all these years later, how was Hickman able to find Roseann, now named Mary Ellen Suey?

The Indianapolis Star reports Hickman spent years trying to track down Suey when he decided to ask a former sheriff for some help back in December. The former sheriff said he interviewed 75 people and went through public records before he could find Suey.

In reaction to the reunion, Suey told the paper: "It's just so nice to meet him and give him a hug and thank him for what he did. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be here."

This video from the Palladium-Item shows the reunion between Hickman and Suey - a reunion nearly 60 years in the making. Even the mayor of Richmond, Indiana, came to see the two.

Hickman says Suey will "always be [his] little girl."
