Shopbop collabs with mommy designers for a great cause
Just in time for Mother's Day, the online retail store Shopbop has teamed up with Condé Nast, the M∙A∙C AIDS Fund, and a roster of renowned designers to support the Born Free campaign, which aims to to end transmission of HIV from mothers to children by the end of 2015. All of the participating designers also happen to be proud mothers including: Vera Wang, Isabel Marant, Victoria Beckham, Jenna Lyons and more.
Shopbop will donate 100% of the proceeds to the Born Free campaign. In addition, on May 11th, Vogue, DVF, Claire Danes and more will host a 'Mother's Day Carnival' at Hudson River Park's Pier 45 in New York City from 12-3PM in support of Born Free Africa -- talk about the chicest carnival EVER!
StyleList had the chance to catch up with Keren Craig, Marchesa Co-Founder and Textile Designer who participated in the collaboration to find out why this cause is so important to her. "My family and I are incredibly excited for the upcoming Born Free event. It's such a wonderful way to spend Mother's Day, not only with my own two daughters, but by helping to raise awareness and funds for children in Africa afflicted by HIV. It's an honor for Georgina and I to participate in this initiative and I'm looking forward to celebrating a great event with such an important cause."
