CA Lawmakers Push Bills Requiring Baby Changing Tables In Men's Restrooms

As the dynamics of the modern family evolve, California lawmakers are pushing two bills that require baby-changing tables in men's restrooms. Two bills mandating businesses to grant men equal access to changing tables have cleared the California State Senate Transportation and Housing Committee on Tuesday.

One of the bills proposes a changing station that is accessible to both men and women. The bill's sponsor told Fox News, "...traditional gender roles with women as the primary caregiver for the children are changing, and men are becoming more and more involved in the care of their young children. There are also a growing number of same-sex households with children."

The other bill requires changing tables in every men's and women's restroom in restaurants, movie theaters, shopping centers, and public facilities.

The proposed bills are a sign of progress, but they would force costly regulations on businesses and there is no certainty either will pass in the state senate.
