Rockland, Mass. Police On High Alert After Unusual Abduction

Authorities in Rockland, Mass., are on high alert after a 9-year-old boy was first abducted and then let go.

according to CBS Local News, "at about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, police say the boy "was guided to a vehicle" by a man whom he thought was a friend of his family."

The man reportedly then drove around for 25 minutes before letting the boy free.

Fortunately, the boy didn't suffer any abuse, but police are worried the man might strike again.

Rockland County Police Chief told KMBC news, "My concerns it that this may have been sort of a dry run for someone who was considering an abduction."

Authorities says another possibility is that the abductor got 20-25 minutes into the ordeal and decided he couldn't go through with it.

Police are stepping up patrol in the area and an investigation is ongoing.
