CBS News reported that the note was taken from Cobain's wallet when police arrived at his home on April 8, 1994, after Cobain fatally shot himself. The note was never made public. CBS obtained it from the Seattle Police via a public information request.
The network reports that the undated note, apparently written by Cobain on stationery from San Francisco's Phoenix Hotel, is written like a mock wedding vow. It references Love as Cobain's "lawful shredded wife" who would be "siphoning" his money for drugs.
Cobain's body was discovered in Seattle on April 8, 1994. An investigation determined that days earlier Cobain had gone into the greenhouse of his home and taken a massive dose of heroin. He then shot himself with a 20-gauge shotgun.
Earlier this year, in advance of the 20th anniversary of Cobain's suicide, a Seattle detective reviewed the case files, including evidence photos and statements. He found no new information to change the police conclusion that Cobain took his own life.
Cobain, who was 27 when he died, sold millions of albums with Nirvana and helped popularize the Pacific Northwest's heavy, muddy "grunge" rock.
if you were old enough to understand that "time" early 90's and how music was changing in this era you would care,
Why on earth is necesssary to publish something so personal - so hurt and so cruel!
CBS is a disgrace! There is not one reason this note needed to be open to the public.. CBS, NBC, ABC,CNN, Associated Press, etc.. all Liberal trash.
Too bad Kurt---there isn't a biatch on this planet worth spending one day in jail for, much less taking your life. Peace out bro
I agree and I'm waiting for karma to catch up with the biatch that caused my brother to take his life in 2011!!!
In 1997, they had the decency not to air this peevish snipe, which makes both members of the couple look small and foolish. It should have remained private.
wow drug addict mocking a drug addict, coward
I assume that Cobain is the "coward" in your take on what was a tragic situation. It would have been equally tragic had they not been famous. And why assume Cobain was an addict? That he took a large dose of heroin before shooting himself in the face with a shotgun could merely be an indication that he was afraid to kill himself and needed the heroin to calm him down (opiates have that effect even in non-addicts). You're also very judgmental about addicts. It is a brain disease you know.
no sorry its a CHOICE
This was a troubled soul and really, this man was so high on drugs, who knows how accurate his thoughts were. He was going through and unhappy time with his equally troubled wife. he was on drugs, she was on drugs. Neither of them were saints. And CBS should have left this alone. No one cares anymore. It doesn't bring Cobain back. It doesn't help his child any. Love I can take or leave. But the child shouldn't have to read this, even if she's now an adult.
He was so high, he shouldn't have been able to pull that trigger.
Both were drug addicts who got lucky. One ended up dead the other brain dead and lonely.
Regarding suicide, comments have been made that it is a selfish act. I totally agree but, when someone is in that state of mind (on drugs or not) their perspective on everything is warped due to the illness. They are unable to think beyond their pain and are sick of living that existence. So, it's not fair to knock anything unless you are in another person's shoes.
I agree and no one knows what its like to be at the end of their rope and wanting to die.... i dealt with this with my daughter and it was her husband driving her away with His heartless mean actions... so people dont judge others lest ye be judged.... be in their shoes and see what they have gone through.. thank God my daughter divorced her husband and is happy again,
Hes still rakes in millions a year. And he isnt even alive. You fools
