As the calendar turns from April to May, look back on some of the news photos you may have missed. It was a tremendous month for still photography. People behind the lenses captured all manner of mesmerizing and well-timed images that brought the story of April 2014 to life while immortalizing it. From the revealing shot above of Catherine, duchess of Cambridge, meeting a Maori warrior and getting quite the eyeful while on a three-week tour of Australia, to the many shots depicting nature's raw power and gentle splendor to incredible shots of athletes in the heat of competition -- take a few moments to click through each one and reflect on the month that was.
