Rutgers students protest Condoleezza Rice speech

UMinn Condoleeza Rice

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) - Roughly 50 Rutgers University students are staging a sit-in at a school administration building in New Brunswick to protest the school's decision to invite Condoleezza Rice to speak at the university's commencement next month.

The school's Board of Governors voted to pay the former secretary of state under President George W. Bush and national security adviser $35,000 for her appearance at the May 18 ceremony.

But several faculty members and students want the invitation rescinded because of Rice's role in the Iraq War.

University President Robert Barchi and other school leaders have resisted the calls to "disinvite" Rice, saying the university welcomes open discourse on controversial topics.

Ms. Condoleezza Rice did a MUCH better job at being Head of the State Department than Hillary ever did and also stayed in the position two times longer.

Anti Vietnam war protestors turned college professors teaching their spin on geo-politics to suseptible young students. Hmmmm, just like extremist Islamist clerics ingraining their hatred of America in the name of Allah (aka God). From time immortal, ad infinitum! When will we ever learn?

Just shows how the 'lost in the Sixties Hippies' found their homes in the American College system. They are heavily indoctrinated in ALL the tenets of Political Correctness and teach their students politics, History and current affairs with that skewed slant. Students accept their claptrap as fact because they have been led to believe teachers are righteous in what they present to students. WAKE UP STUDENTS! One of the reasons you may change your politics as you grow older is that you will add to your education and realize how you were lied to directly or by the convenient omission of facts.

You are right, but how does a Student stand up to a Professor and challenge his political teachings without being in danger of failing the course? With 70+% of College Professors being Liberals, it's tough for Students to express themselves.

You people are sick, Ms. Rice should be honored for her ability to look over small minded people like you people. Maybe Bush jumped the gun an went in to Iraq, but do you honestly think that given a chance these people would not attack America again. 3000 American's were killed on Sept 11th, they people on the planes, the people in the buildings did nothing to have their life's taken in such a cowardly way. Put yourself in the President, and his peoples place do you take letting these people coming into our country and kill citizen or do you let them know that it is not accepted. We are a laughing stock now due to the cowardness that we are showing, Lets keep sending Money to countries that would like to see us destroyed. That kill our citizens, but lets not show that we are a strong nation. Lets let them drain our Middle Class Citizens that pay the taxes and work long hours so they can send them our money. Money that could be used here for Schools, Homeless, Child Care. Look in the mirror, when was the last time that you stood up for someone. I am neither Left or Right. But I know what is right and wrong. The left all it can do is buy people, the right all they can do is walk in circles. Leaves the working class people to pick up the Tab.

Attack America again? You know that Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11. Right? You know that most of the 9/11 bombers were Saudi Arabian. But Bush was friends with the Saudis. That al qaeda bombed us wasn't remotely a justification for invading Iraq. That's the point.

Just curious, Bush is a war criminal? What does that make Obama for the over 2,500 killed so far and still counting in Afghanistan? I love the snarky remarks from those children not old enough to even remember horror of 9/11/01 on American soil. Sounds like blow back because Michelle was uninvited to speak at a graduation ceremony!!

Sadly, both are war criminals. The funny thing is that Obama has continued many of Bush's worst policies (targeted killings, indefinite detention, extraordinary rendition) and Obama led the effort to sweep Bush era torture under the rug even though Obama is required by international convention to investigate and prosecute torture. Both are war criminals, honestly. Very sad.

At least Obama did not fabricate the reasons for AAfghanistan, nor did he authorize torture as teh Bushies, including Rice, did. Or are we overlooking this?

“[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq’s refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs.” — From a letter signed by Joe Lieberman, Dianne Feinstein, Barbara A. Milulski, Tom Daschle, & John Kerry among others on October 9, 1998

“This December will mark three years since United Nations inspectors last visited Iraq. There is no doubt that since that time, Saddam Hussein has reinvigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to refine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer- range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies.” — From a December 6, 2001 letter signed by Bob Graham, Joe Lieberman, Harold Ford, & Tom Lantos among others

“Whereas Iraq has consistently breached its cease-fire agreement between Iraq and the United States, entered into on March 3, 1991, by failing to dismantle its weapons of mass destruction program, and refusing to permit monitoring and verification by United Nations inspections; Whereas Iraq has developed weapons of mass destruction, including chemical and biological capabilities, and has made positive progress toward developing nuclear weapons capabilities” — From a joint resolution submitted by Tom Harkin and Arlen Specter on July 18, 2002

“Saddam’s goal … is to achieve the lifting of U.N. sanctions while retaining and enhancing Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction programs. We cannot, we must not and we will not let him succeed.” — Madeline Albright, 1998

“(Saddam) will rebuild his arsenal of weapons of mass destruction and some day, some way, I am certain he will use that arsenal again, as he has 10 times since 1983″ — National Security Adviser Sandy Berger, Feb 18, 1998

“Iraq made commitments after the Gulf War to completely dismantle all weapons of mass destruction, and unfortunately, Iraq has not lived up to its agreement.” — Barbara Boxer, November 8, 2002

“The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retained some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capability. Intelligence reports also indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons, but has not yet achieved nuclear capability.” — Robert Byrd, October 2002

The liberals..... always blabbing about freedom and choice. Unless you disagree with them. If you check back to the start of the Iraq war, you will read about the FBI, CIA, and Interpol handing the politicians reports of possible WMD's. Many in that country bragging about their supplies of gas that had already killed over 100,000 citizens there. So most of the politicians here, (yes a lot of Dem's including Hillary) said we had to do it. Or in your minds, Bush was the only one that got this memo, and tricked everybody into it. (lied is the word you use). When you repeat something that turns out not to be true, it is not a lie.

Paying $35,000 for a speech. No wonder college tuition is so high. You would think these former high powered politicians would gladly speak for freeev given the government pension they receive.
