Jordan 'disgusted' by alleged Sterling comments

Sterling Poses Tough Test For Silver

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Michael Jordan said he's both disgusted and outraged by the racist comments allegedly made by Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

Jordan, now the owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, released a statement Sunday addressing the matter. He said that as an owner, "I'm completely disgusted that a fellow team owner could hold such sickening and offensive views."

As a former player, Jordan says "I'm completely outraged."

An audio recording obtained by TMZ alleges that Sterling made racist comments to a girlfriend, including urging her not to bring black friends to Clippers games. The NBA and the Clippers are investigating, including whether the male voice on the recording is in fact Sterling's.

Jordan said he is confident that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will investigate the matter fully and "take appropriate action quickly."

"There is no room in the NBA - or anywhere else - for the kind of racism and hatred that Mr. Sterling allegedly expressed," Jordan said. "I am appalled that this type of ignorance still exists within our country and at the highest levels of our sport. In a league where the majority of players are African-American, we cannot and must not tolerate discrimination at any level."

Jordan's Bobcats trail the Miami Heat 3-0 in a best-of-seven Eastern Conference first-round series that resumes in Charlotte on Monday night.

If I got outraged every time I ran across someone who was Ignorant....I would be outraged all the time. Hint Life is too short to let everyone else dictate your Mood, and Disposition! You only have so many hours before you die, you cannot decide how long you have, but can determine how you spend each of them, if you want to spend them mad or angry, that is your choice. If being angry makes you happy, then enjoy!

Very timely comment. Seems that someone may have stuck their finger into the air, saw which way the wind was blowing and decided to make a statement.

I listened to the whole tape. This "girlfriend" not only set him up (why else would she tape it), but kept needling him until he couldn't take it anymore. He kept trying to end the fight, but she wanted to keep going. I don't care what color you are, everyone says things in the heat of an argument in their own home that they wouldn't say in public. You wouldn't have a public "outcry" if this was a black owner fighting with his girlfriend over white people. GET OVER IT! That conversation was between them! She is only using this man to receive money and gifts and using her body to do it. I know what they used to call women like that.

MJ must have sat in plenty of owners meetings with this guy . Did the guy demand MJ sit in the back of the room?? Wait for facts to come out.

So is he 'allegedly' disgusted by the 'alleged' comments? Maybe he should wait to voice his disgust, especially after his alma mater, UNC, has been accused of 'allegedly' falsifying the academic records of its athletes in an effort to keep them eligible for NCAA competition. Maybe Jordan should focus his outrage (assuming he wasn't guilty of that behavior himself) at that institution and quit flailing at windmills like the rules overseen by the NBA.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the issue. As a black owner, he would be less than a man not to speak out on these alledged comments. Sterling's view is "it's ok for these people to entertain him, but absolutely unacceptable for a half black female to socialize with black people. That is crazy! He should cheat with a white girl. field him an all white team, & put up a sign at Staples that say no "niggers" allowed
