DWTS Danica McKellar cracks rib during practice

Danica McKellar Breaks Rib In 'DWTS' Rehearsal

We're officially past the midway point on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars", and another celebrity has fallen victim to the curse that has haunted other contestants.

Danica McKellar tweeted out Friday that she'd broken a rib during ballroom practice with her partner Val Chmerkovskiy.

You might remember McKellar as Winnie Cooper from ABC's "The Wonder Years".

And this injury really doesn't sound good for McKellar's future on the show.

Especially when you consider that a fractured rib can cause pain when breathing as well as severe pain in the injured area, as WebMD points out.

And it seems that McKellar's injury is putting a toll on the dancing duo. Chermokvskiy tweeted that it has been a "Very very tough week" so far.

It's understandable. The couple scored a stellar 36 out of 40 for their cha-cha routine last week and the judges on the ABC show will be expecting them to pull out another spectacular performance in just two days.

McKellar isn't the first celebrity to sustain an injury this season.

Seventy-seven-year-old Billy Dee Williams had to withdraw from the competition in March because of a chronic back problem, as Us Weekly reported.

Injuries aren't uncommon in the ballroom. Many celebrities and their partners have danced through the pain on the show having suffered broken toes, concussions and ruptured discs in their lower backs.

The show has even seen a rib injury before. New York Daily News notes TV host Maria Menounos danced with two broken ribs and a fractured foot during her season in 2012. Now that's commitment.

So, the question remains: will we be seeing McKellar take the floor Monday night?

If the celeb's tweet is anything to go by, it seems we might be. McKellar says she's crossing her fingers that she'll be able to pull off her routine.

They need to compete equals. 60-80's can't compete with 20-30's. It's sad to see and unfair to the PRO who can't win with an older person. Let the older compete together and same with younger. This could be held simultaneous with 8 over 50 and 8 over 25 and separate voting or have 3 sets 20-35, 35-50 & 50 +. Give a chance to those of us who are tough enough to reach 60+

Forget it, a cracked rib and just getting up from a lying-down position is excruciating. She had all the bells and whistles too--great routine, good partner, perfect legs and genius brain. Yikes what a babe.

From reviewing the dancers, Danica was probly the most fit...and she has a great body and appeal. Will be interestig to see her perform hurt... As for a handicap, Amy simply amazes me how she manages to perform well. She is a dark horse but I do believe she will come very close to the finish based on her skills and heart and performances... Candice is a doll...very attractive woman and if she can open up a bit past her Christian resolve, she can compete with the best of them...as for meryl...she has a natuaral grace but she has limited herself to being able to improve...

This is entertainment, it's meant to help you cope when you have loans to pay and don't have a job, so enjoy the fun.

I enjoy the danceing, but it's time for a judges change, the three they that are there now
have seen it all and they now pick on all the little things and make a big deal out of them Get new judges and get new out looks on the way they dance.

I agree ! The judges seem to favor some with high scores and others with lower scores. An ex. is Charlie white. They always seem to find " something " wrong and lower his scores.

Think Len is leaving, the gay guy has worn out his humor tho he was once funny. Don't add Jul Hough she's not fair. Get americans no english, it has helped American Idol.

It's just a dance. People won't know who was on the show weeks after it's completely. Rib broken will limit breathing and the pain will be very difficult. Danica needs to listen to her head. Drop out before more danger happens. She will be guarded at every dance which puts Val on risk. Take care of yourself Danica, there will be more time to dance.

Ouch. gonna be difficult.. I don't think I, personally, would take the chance.. She needs to drop out. She's not going to win anyway... Meryl is.
