'American Idol' Reveals Top Five

Twenty-three-year-old CJ Harris from Jasper, Alabama, was emotional after his elimination and goodbye performance -- and so was everyone else in the room. His family came to the stage and expressed how proud they were of CJ and all he had accomplished. CJ said his fondest memory of the competition was the amazing people he met. But he'll get to hang out with them a lot this summer, when they all go on tour together.

'American Idol' Reveals Top Five

On "American Idol," the top five were revealed after an emotional elimination.
CarterMatt wasn't really surprised to CJ go -- saying he's been knocking on the door of elimination for weeks.

"From our vantage point, it was a no-brainer that Jessica should be saved. Her 'Jolene' wasn't our favorite, but she has been far and away the more consistent of the two."

And Hollywood Life agreed -- while CJ was lovable and talented, it was his time to go.

"CJ Harris is in the bottom to the surprise of exactly no one. Sorry, CJ... Everyone is very weepy; CJ is very well-loved. Even Jennifer Lopez is crying - but, to be fair, it doesn't seem to take much."

There is some real talent there now, and it is going to be really tough to figure out who the winner will be. I feel it will probably be Caleb Johnson.

Any of the contestants on the Voice this year could win American Idol hands down, the talent on that show is much much better.

It always has been; but the Voice does not have an age limit (e.g., Sisaundra is 44). I believe Idol has an age limit of 30 or under.

AI has certainly deteriorated over the last few seasons. I wasn't going to watch but caught one of Caleb's performances and decided to see if he wins. It really is no contest. Of this bunch of players, he is the most talented. As for the other contestants, I don't know why they were selected. Alex always looks like he smelled something bad and putting his "spin" on songs isn't working. Jena needs to go back to school and come back when she's fully cooked. Sam (deer in the headlights) also needs to mature more. Jessica has a great voice but that's it. The songs she sings never reach her eyes or her facial expressions. She's like a wax replica with a voice.
Ryan...you need to bring the show back to its original format. There is a desperation about its content. You need to shut the audience noise down and stop with the silly attempts to get the judges to make fools of themselves. That goes for you also.
Harry and Keith are good at judging and giving the contestants advice that will help them. Jennifer is just eye candy with a tissue.
I'll tune in to see Caleb for the rest of this season but, if you don't fix the problems and get back to square one, then I probably won't bother to watch in the future. Good Luck!

i agree with everything you said except for Jennifer..she is not a good judge, (and I dont think she's all that as far as eye candy either) she gets too emotionally involved and forgets to JUDGE.... Ryan's flirtatious behavior with Jennifer is really bugging me. Can't he stand anywhere else besides behind her?...I have really disliked the show this year. I like that Harry Conick told Jennifer he was a judge not a fan of contestants.

One other thing..Caleb reminds me of a younger version of Meatloaf.... He should sing a Meatloaf song IMO.

He looks a lot like Ricky Nelson (a real teen idol) and they should have promoted him that way, and he should have sung a cover or two of Nelson's hits on the show. But the show has lost me this season, and I have been a long time fan. Caleb is the only really talented singer/performer and the judges are not only boring but they picked a really weak line up. They went for youth over talent and failed. Plus the production values and sets, are so overdone to cover for the lack of talent it's pathetic. Most of the show is drivel and ads, with only a few minutes of singing. It's nearly unwatchable for any adult.

unfortunately c.j. should have been sent home weeks and weeks ago... consitantly he was told he had to learn to sing on key...much better talent than he was sent home prior. Also if the judges..especially JLO would keep her personal opinions to herself and only judge on the talent she is seeing which I realize for her has to be hard since she has so little herself, unfortunately those kind of remarks sway the teenieboppers to vote popularity not talent. It is very very obvious they are pushing one who screams more than sings and she does not deserve to be in the final group. Hopefully fans of American Idol will use their ears these last couple weeks and not their "goosies"....

I think "American Idol" has better singers this year than "The Voice" has (except for Sisandra). However, I'm sick of the prducers highlighting Jlo all the time, and her "papi" song was the worst performance on the stage all year. Caleb is by FAR the star this year, and the show will do very well for itself to have him win it all. 'AI' has never had a true, classic rocker win the whole thing (Phillips is more folk-rock) and Caleb would be a great ambassador for pure, classic Rock and Roll music. As for Sam Woolf, Harry has it wrong with the comparison to Ricky Nelson. The truth is: if you look carefully around Sam's eyes as he is performing, you can often see flashes of Elvis in his face. This the reason the girls are going nuts, but they don't realize it. Of course Sam couldn't be big like Elvis was because he severely lacks the intense stage presence and very unique voice. Also, I find it very ironic that week-10 departee M.K. stated that "rock and roll is dead," then she gets soundly defeated by a rock and roll artist. GO CALEB!

CJ was talented however he has been in bottom two or three more than anyone. Now it starts to come down to performances that will ever behold the American Idol. Right now I would say it will be Caleb and Jena as the final two....with Caleb the winner. He reminds me of a young Meatloaf...and he is the best since "Daughtry" as a rock star. Good Luck to the final five.
