Man dies after Los Angeles police station shooting

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A man suspected of wounding an officer while shooting up a Los Angeles police station died Thursday at a hospital more than two weeks after the attack, authorities said.

Daniel Christoph Yealu, 29. died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.

Yealu, 29, was wounded in the April 7 shootout with two officers at the West Traffic Division. He had been charged with attempted murder.

Yealu, a onetime security guard, had applied to join the Los Angeles Police Department in 2009 but was rejected.

Police said he walked into the station, told the desk officer, "'I have a complaint,'" and opened fire with a handgun.

The wounded officer has been released from the hospital. The other officer in the shootout wasn't hurt.

Yealu left an AK-47 rifle in his car when he entered the police station, authorities said. Officers serving a search warrant at his West Los Angeles home said they turned up several more guns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

@ HI George.. I am ashamed to see you us a chalice as your icon. As a UU you are misrepresenting our community horribly. Your comment is absolutely ignorant and fits perfectly what kgc073 is saying.

My gah,, who's the ditzy blonde doing the reporting?

BTW, nice weapons, I wonder if they'll come up for auction at the annual police bazaar so they can support the homeless? None of that stuff was Kommufornia compliant where if you own over ten rounds you're dubbed #1 on the most wanted list.

Ironic this nutjob didn't choose to use his long weapons in his standoff relying on the lowly handgun instead. Those long distance 30 rounders did him no good at all..

This is proof that gun control works. The Officer controlled his gun properly and killed the criminal.

What firearms control? There isn't any of that any longer. Thus, it proves nothing. Pre-1980s, we actually did have sensible national firearms control. We didn't have anywhere near the firearms violence occurring post-1980 rapidly exponentially increasing thereafter. We ended up with the children killing children generation in the 1990s after Reagan, HW, NRA Heston, the GOP, and the firearms manufacturers were done eroding the ban on semi-auto made exclusively for the military. We certainly didn't have mass murders by firearm. We didn't even have spree firearm killings as started to numerously occur post-1980. The most notorious spree killing was on a university campus in Texas in the 1960s. One notorious spree killing in two decades in Texas, which was no big surprise in Texas in those days either.

Plus, the one shooting back is trained police officer. It's mandated they use constraint whenever possible. Something civilians aren't prone to do. When law enforcement shoots any bullets, they are required to turn over their service revolver until IAB clears them for active duty once again. Something civilians never face.

The sole reason the semi- ban was lifted is this. Money. With a volunteer army, those greedy, sociopathic firearms manufacturers no longer had those lucrative firearms contracts with the Pentagon. Firearms were manufactured for only two purposes - to kill and profiteer from killing. Russia, going to a peacetime economy provided a great deal of market competition against US firearms manufacturers. That makes all firearms worshipers enablers of anyone killing anyone else by firearm or others killing selves with firearms. That means the enabler is just as responsible for firing every bullet as the one pulling the trigger to fire it. The worst of the enablers for providing ultra-liberal legal free flow of firearms are the most responsible. That would be the greedy sociopathic firearms manufacturers and their lucratively lobbyist paid greased palms of politicians all doing the most psychopathically lethal of the all that enabling.

Nonsense your political solutions will not work for a crime which is perpetrated by not even 1% of gun owners (bar the 39 shot in Chicago by gangs and illegal drug peddlers last weekend). We can tell by you ridiculous political rant.

Respectfully, your lengthy post if full of so much BS it's hard to fathom. What on earth does a volunteer army have to do with firearms sales? Volunteer or draftee, you still need weapons. You best take a look at crime rates in the 1970s and compare to today, and the number of gun deaths compared to today. You are utterly lacking in facts. Here are the FACTS: If you're not black, a drug dealer, druggie associate, or live in one of the Democratic Party's socialist utopias like Detroit, Chicago, St Louis, Baltimore, Gary, Newark, etc (all governed by Democrats for decades) your odds of getting murdered are just about the same as in Europe. Please don't call me racist, the FACTS don't make me happy. You also have ZERO knowledge of firearms. Semi-automatic weapons have been available to the America public for over a century. The US Government sold 2 million semi automatics directly to the public (M-1 carbines) after WWII. The great gun control hoax is a mere red herring to disguise the fact that the most loyal segment of the Democratic Party is killing itself. Also ignored are all those great gun control liberals in Hollywood who produce the most violent media in the world - hypocrites all.

It is the mind. His mind had had always thought about "guns"; "shoots"; he finally shot at innocence.
Parents are busy working don't have much time for children.
The schools should require to have a class to train the mind of the children practice:
"Peace; compassion; love; let go; forgive; forget; move on; and etc.
If they hear about these words often will help them to survive.
