Bobcats' McRoberts fined $20,000 for LeBron foul

LeBron Elbowed In Throat By McRoberts
NEW YORK (AP) -- Charlotte Bobcats forward Josh McRoberts was fined $20,000 by the NBA on Thursday for making unnecessary and excessive contact with Miami Heat forward LeBron James.

McRoberts' foul against James with 50 seconds remaining Wednesday night in Miami in the Heat's 101-97 playoff victory over the Bobcats also was upgraded to a Flagrant 2.

James drove and was met at the rim by McRoberts, whose right elbow struck the four-time NBA MVP around his chin. James immediately began grabbing at his throat and needed much longer than he usually does to get up after a hard foul, which was not called flagrant.

"I don't need to see it again," James said after the game. "Most important thing is we won the game."

Said McRoberts, who insisted it wasn't intentional: "It looked a lot worse than what it was."

The Heat lead the Eastern Conference first-round series 2-0. Game 3 is Saturday in Charlotte.

Never forget what those NASCAR boys know...it's entertaiment. The NBA is primarily concerned about $. If revenue were down and the owners thought changing the rules, either to allow or disallow rough play, would help revenue, that's what would be done. All the controversy, adds interest and ultimately dollars. Yep, "it's just business, Michael."

Maybe the refs thought it was "Fragrant" not "Flagrant"! Really a bad hit!

Old school hard foul playoff basketball. I would love to see more of it. You want to drive the lane you are going to pay the price.

LaBron is really a showman. He's got the game down to a perpetual precision seldom seen for more then ten minutes at a time in any other player.

It wasn't bad for a mugging. People are in prison for a lot less. Needs to take some acting lessons if he is going to say it was not intentional.

-Play the game fair and there will be no need for " stupid plays like this in the NBA. Frustration is one thing, intentional and personal hurt of another is very short of Sportsman like conduct in my book.
