Neil Patrick Harris 'curses out' woman at Broadway play

Theatergoers at a Broadway play got some unscripted dialogue this week when actor Neil Patrick Harris cursed out a woman for talking during his show, Hedwig And The Angry Inch.

According to the New York Post, an audience member called out "I love you, Neil!" To which the 40-year-old replied, "I'm doing something up here, ­motherf**ker!"

It should be pointed out that Harris, who plays a transgender german punk, never got out of character and that the How I Met Your Mother star didn't stop the show to berate the woman. The site Gossip Cop calls out the media for blowing the whole ordeal out of proportion, noting that the show is highly improvised and embraces audience interaction.

A rep for Harris confirmed that the story has been inflated saying, "It was all done in good fun, and fully in the context of the show. The audience went crazy and it really was a light-hearted moment..."

Hedwig And The Angry Inch is currently in previews, and officially opens on Broadway on April 22nd.
