Ultimate Warrior died from cardiovascular disease

PHOENIX (AP) -- Authorities in Phoenix say former pro wrestler The Ultimate Warrior died of cardiovascular disease.

Maricopa County spokeswoman Cari Gerchick says that's the finding from an autopsy conducted Thursday by the county Medical Examiner's Office.

The 54-year-old wrestler's given name was James Hellwig. He collapsed April 8 while walking with his wife to their car at a Scottsdale hotel and was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Scottsdale police have said there were no signs of foul play.

The Ultimate Warrior was one of pro wrestling's biggest stars in the late 1980s.

Hey you know everybody is knocking the entertainment of wrestling but yet everyone still watches it. It is no different that football, baseball, or motorsports. Anything you do is dangerous now days. You can't even walk out your front door and be safe. So you know what if you don't like the eays the sports business is going then turn your head the other way and forget that it is on.

You would think that with routine physicals that they would had known. But maybe not if they don't do other types of exams. It is sad though my prayers are with his family.

Wrestlers don't have any insurance. They are classified as INDEPEPENDENT contractors, even though WWE OWNS them. Unless you are one of the top stars, you are paid chump change to get your brains beat out and risk serious injury.

I love that photo - he could body slam Andre the Giant - but with those two sweethearts on his arms - he is a totally helpless mushball who do no more than hug them all day long. He was blessed! Thats is one sweet photo I am sure those girls will treasure all their lives.

No offense but Paul Hamen and ECW bailed out Vince. Wrestling was boring until crazy ECW stepped in and gave us a reality check on what real entertainment was. Out with the old bring on the new. Get rid of Batista, hes boring as hell to watch to: why do you think they BOO him. Lately no Ladder matches, no TLC matches. Hell not even a cage match. HHH if you are in charge than you really need a wake up call because your losing fans left and right.

WWE isn't going to change unless the fans change. It is all scripted and lately, it appears the new breed is getting very bad at blatantly showing that they are watching the ringside clock, the referee wears an earpiece to get instructions from the writers. How they get away with a PG rating for the brand of wrestling today, I will never know. Triple H is nothing more than a street bully. Such a come down for a one time popular wrestler. The Corporate Hunter leaves alot to be desired. Since Stephanie likes the spotlight so much, she should get in the ring with a female wrestler who will take her to school. I used to enjoy wrestling, but now wonder why some of these guys aren't in jail for their shenanigans in the ring.
