Swarm Of Bees Causes Plane To Turn Around Mid-Flight

Passengers on a plane from Las Vegas to Duluth, Minn., had to turn around mid-flight Monday for a reason you might not expect. ABC says:

"An Allegiant Air jet flew into a swarm of bees. It was so bad passengers say it smelled like the plane was on fire as thousands of bees flew into the engines and actually blocked the windshield."

Passengers on the plane told Duluth's WDIO about their experience.

"When we landed, the fire department and the cops were waiting, and they took off along the runway after us."

"It was a little scary coming back down into Vegas. I mean, you don't know what damage is done."

According to WDAZ,there were 160 passengers on the plane that had to turn around. They were all able to get on another plane at the airport in Las Vegas and make it to their destinations later the same day.
Interestingly, NBC reports bees have caused problems for flights before. Last summer, a swarm of bees got inside a device meant to tug a plane from the gate. The bees delayed the flight by three hours.

WDIO reports the passengers on Monday's flight were able to make it to Duluth only about two hours later than originally planned.

So, the Queen bee put the question to the worker bees, "To bee or not to bee?"
