I don't care about blaming someone now. I am so sad about this and can only imagine the horror and fear that the kids experienced just before death. Tragic for everyone involved.

Yet another tragic story in the news--the sinking ferry along with the continuing saga of the missing jetliner. It must be awful for all involved.

I'm curious about the writing and proofing of this Associated Press story: "There were 475 people aboard and frantic parents have gathered at the high school student's school." What high school student's school? By chance, is the writer actually wishing to write "at the high school students' school"? Big difference, AP!

I pray that they find more passengers alive. Maybe some are trapped in an air bubble somewhere on the ferry.

The loss of some many lives in that manner is emotional. So many lives affected. Wow!

These kids were phoning their parents while trapped in the ship as it sunk.
The horror of this is beyond imagination.

fyi - I write disaster recovery manuals...when the going gets rough, get the $#@% out of the building and especially, a tilting ferry. I can't believe they were instructed to stay put...! very sad!

countless prayers for the students and families.

Why has there been no mention of the vessel's captain or its crew in any of the news reports? What happened to them? Do they even exist? Was this ferry on automatic pilot? Was it some sort of Top Secret mission, or what? ... Very strange.

I can't image the crush of human bodies inside that vessel when she went over, what an idiot to tell people to stay put when you know damn well your going over, at least enough to get your sorry butt off the sinking ship. It sounds as if this all happened quite quickly so the confusion cause by the crew and the captain most certainly has caused the death of hundreds of people who are now trapped in the ship. May god have mercy on them.

Words such as 'ABANDON SHIP' would have been appropriate NOT ' don't go out'!!! Yet the captain himself, survives??? This isn't just a tragedy as much as it is an atrocity of power given to so called 'seamen'. What sort of emergency training did this captain receive ??! I can only hope that S.Korea and other countries learn from this!!

This reminds me of the Costa Concordia except times 10; the lifeboats unusable and the Captain giving bad instructions and leaving the ship early on during the disaster.
