Kristin Chenoweth not angry about Letterman prank

Kristen Chenoweth Explains Why She Wasn't Offended by Letterman Prank

Over the years, Kristin Chenoweth has had a ton of success and surprises in her amazing career on-stage and on-screen. She's won a Tony award for her role as Sally in "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" on Broadway as well as a 2009 Emmy for her role on "Pushing Daisies."

But perhaps one of the biggest surprises that brought her world to a screeching halt was that headline-making accident on the set of "The Good Wife" in 2012. A light fixture fell on her head, knocking her to the ground fracturing her skull among other serious injuries. When she sat down with AOL.com's Brian Balthazar, she recalled, "The accident that happened, I was literally just standing there and something fell on my head. A silk which was held by scaffolding beams fell on my head with a lighting silk on it."

While making the rounds for her new animated film "Rio 2" playing the role of poisonous frog, Gabi, Chenoweth stopped by the "Late Show with David Letterman" where her long-time friend couldn't help but pull an April Fool's prank on her. As she told Letterman how she now looks up wherever she goes in case something could fall, a sandbag dropped on to the opposite side of Letterman's desk startling Chenoweth. The prank was called "cruel" and "mean" in headlines across the web, but Chenoweth tells AOL that there were no hard feelings. "Everybody's been asking me 'Were you offended? How mean was that of Dave?' First of all, I know him over so many years now. He would never put me in harm's way. He might terrify me just in the interview process but certainly not put me in physical danger...He got some flack for it and I was like 'oh, no.'"

Chenoweth says she's extra sensitive of the backlash since Letterman recently announced his retirement. "With Jay moving on and Dave moving on, it makes me feel like there's an end of an era."

The actress and singer also talked about a moment on stage that recently caught fire online. While performing at LA's Hollywood Bowl in August, she pulled a random audience member to sing a "Wicked" duet with her on stage. That audience member, who happened to be a voice instructor, then had a Susan Boyle moment - which immediately went viral. "Sarah Horn," Chenoweth recalled. "There was something about her that I can't put my finger on. I've asked myself many times, 'what made you pick her'?' I think because she said she was a music teacher and I love music... So to have her come up on stage, and then she stands up and she's 5'10" on a short day. You just think, 'Oh she's going to have a sweet little voice.' Then she belts it out there and it's surprising and wonderful in the best possible way."

Chenoweth promises those moments are never planned. And we promise you'll adore her voice in her latest film "Rio 2" in theaters now!

It was just an Apr. Fools prank. They are friends as she explained. Get a life people. There are so many other more important transgressions to complain about.

good that you, Kristin are not offended, but I thought it was insensitive of him to do that since you had just been talking about it. Actually I never did think he was a very nice or kind person. Having a son and age has mellowed him a little..but still. UGH!

Publicize her role in Rio2, but don't forget she did voice work in Space Chimps also. Me, I liked her best in her role on West Wing.

I have always love Kristin Chenoweth - she is adorable - sincere - talented and so down to earth in a sea of phony celebs - Kristin is the real deal! She is always a pleasure to watch whether she is singing - acting or being interviewed. Most of the so called celebs would have their knickers in a major bunch - not sweet little Kristin - she just keeps going! God bless you Kristin for being such a wonderful down to earth person and giving such joy and entertainment to so many. You will be in the limelight a long long time.
