Police link Kansas City-area highway shootings

KC Police Investigate Connection In 13 Highway Shootings

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Police say they have linked some of the apparently random shootings targeting vehicles traveling on Kansas City-area highways over the past month.

Kansas City, Mo., police didn't indicate Wednesday what led them to that conclusion.

Federal authorities are helping investigate 13 shooting incidents between March 8 and April 6, three in which drivers were wounded.

Ten of the shootings took place in Kansas City, while the other three were in the suburbs of Blue Springs and Lee's Summit, Mo., and Leawood, Kan.

Police say several other possible victims came forward after hearing about the shootings in the media, but it's unclear how many are connected.

They also say victims and witnesses have provided inconsistent statements, making it difficult to get a grip on how many of the shootings are related.

We had a similar group of shooting incidents several years ago in Columbus, Ohio, perpetrated by a person nicknamed the "270 shooter" for our city outerbelt number. If I remember correctly, he was found to be an off-meds victim of mental illness, and I think he was eventually discovered and turned in by family members. One person was killed here in the string of shootings, so it's no laughing matter, nor should it be exploited for political purposes. Make your arguments after people stop living in fear.

Love the headline on the beginning screen about shootings in Kansas. Unfortunately they are not in Kansas they are in Missouri. Not proud of that but it is the truth.

My question is, are there that many shootings in Kansas City at automobiles that it takes 13 incidents for the authorities to "THINK" they are related? Really?

In a few days, this story will disappear just like the one I read a few months ago about a sicko in a pickup truck running people off the road and shooting at them. He supposedly ran a guy off the road, walked up to his car and killed him. Never heard anything else about this particular case since.

"Someone is Shooting at Cars in Kansas" -- the reality is that most of the shootings have been in MISSOURI!!! Obviously some people don't know that there is a Kansas City, MO and Kansas City, KS. Please get your facts straight before you write them!!!
