TSA agent risks life to save woman who fell on Chicago train tracks

TSA Agent Risks Life to Save Woman Who Fell on Chicago Train Tracks

A TSA agent out of Chicago is being called "America-strong" after his courageous act of heroism was caught on camera. Here's "CBS This Morning."

'Eddie Palacios, seen here in the orange sweatshirt, jumped in front of an oncoming subway Wednesday to help a woman who fell onto the tracks.'

Palacios was able to get the attention of the train driver just in the nick of time -- the train stopped no more than 20 feet in front of the woman. He told the Chicago Tribune what happened next:

'She was able to orient herself to get on her feet to walk back close to the platform so they could pull her up. There were two or three people trying to pull her up from the bottom of the train tracks where she was at.'

He tells ABC not to call him a hero.

PALACIOS: 'I really don't think that I'm a hero. I did what I thought was best.'
REPORTER: 'But look at how many people were on that platform -- Eddie's the only one who jumped onto the tracks.'

WMAQ spoke with Jon Hansen, who happened to be at the train station when the incident occurred.

'It almost seemed to him like it was his duty, and he didn't think anything of it. And he wasn't looking for praise, he immediately got on the train when it got to the station and left like nothing. It was really quite an act of heroism.'

Palacios said he never got the name of the woman who fell onto the tracks. After the incident, she was taken to the hospital for some minor injuries.

Maybe the airports should run video of 9/11 as you go through the security lines to remind everyone why we have tsa doing their jobs. It is amazing how I have never seen anyone groped or "sexually assaulted" by tsa personnel in our travels! Where does this happen? My wife usually sets off the detector and is scanned without any incident that resembles groping or worse. Are tsa employees perfect? Of course not, but to compare them to sexual offenders or rapists? That is demeaning and disrespectful to women who have been sexually assaulted! People who use such an analogy should be ashamed to do so! All they want is their 15 minutes of infamy not fame!

Just because it hasn't happened to you and your wife, doesn't mean it doesn't happen to others.

AOL MUST remove this article. Of all the comments, about 80%-90% are very negative. A few comments go way off the rails as to mention Naziism or communism. One has to wonder what communism, or Naziism has to do with saving a life. But, this is America.

Why on earth should they remove the article instead of the idiotic comments?

Because each time you report a comment, or give a -, instead of a +, nothing happens. Those comments just remain. But AOL did get one thing right, so far. In the past week, I haven't seenany crap about somebody making trillions of dollars a week.

The next time your flight arrives at it's destination, thank the pilot and TSA!

Yesterday I called 911 because a woman had run off the road and looked panicky or disabled in some way. Not comparing -- this was simple compared to what he did, but the rules of brotherhood are the same. The road was full of other cars but how could I know anyone else had called. Gotta do what you gotta do.

They put my girl friend into the TSA radiation box and when she came out, she now thinks she's Marylin Monroe. No, it's great.
